Man the B44 is the IFMAR World champ, what more info do you need to decide?

I have a Mid44 converted B44 and this is by far my favorite offroad buggy I have owned in the past 20+ years of RC. This car is so easy to drive fast and very durrable compaired to privious cars. I had a XXX4G back in 2004ish and I spent more money and time in repairs with this buggy than any other car I have ever owned.

B44 is a great car so you wont be dissapointed. I have owned both the B44 and the XXX4 G+ and prefered the rear traction of the XXX4. It suited my driving style much better once i installed the one way. The B44 had plenty of steering with no modifications. I'll take a little push over a car that is loose in the rear end.

i have a XXX4G+, it has been good so far, i break it of course but not as much as i have seen the B44's i drive against. it out drives the B44's at our club races, have not really run it much above club level. i am running a novak xbr sport with a 8.5 brushless system and the car seems to be the fastest one at our track. i like the belt drive, less power loss with no diffs to turn means more accelleration and drive train tuning, i run a smaller pulley on the front which pulls the car through turns, add that to the great rear traction and you have awesome speed through the turns. the brakes take a bit to get used to though, the belt can skip under braking making the car sound like it is coming apart, of course that means the belt tension is good, again less friction=more speed.
the B44 is more popular though, everyone has one, i think that is one of the reasons i went with the losi. at the time parts for the B44 were hard to find as well, losi parts were on the wall at the LHS.
the new CAT SX looks great too, but kind of pricey compared to the B44.

if you go with the B44, there are lots of setups, body choices and wheels. not so much with the XXX4, it is an older car, 5 years i believe, so the choices are getting slim.

Go with the B44 by far. I don't have a B44 but I did have 2 XXX-4's. One was the G+ and the other wasn't and they were terrible. I was lucky if I could finish a single race without breaking something. The handling was pretty good and I didn't even break a belt. however I did blow out 2 diffs, break front arms, front shock towers, and lots of rear shock towers. The B44 really doesn't cost a whole lot more than the XXX-4G+ and is all CF and much more durable.

Both are pretty good cars... ya.. the XXX-4 is getting old.. I hear everybody say it breaks a lot... well.. they all do when you race modified.. If you don't hit anything.. and land on all four.. there is no problem.

If you make sure to maintain the car, the belt won't blow.. you can tell when they start getting bad.. so change it.. I race mine every weekend.. my belt is 3 or 4 months old..

I think people forget that when you get a new car, everything is new! So of course it's going to drive pretty nice compared to a used car. Also setup is very important. Not every stock setup is going to handle every track or driving style correctly.

I've driven B44 and it's nice.. but its a bit too twichy for my liking in the air. My XXX-4 is a lot more stable in the air. But again that could just be the setup it had or perhaps it didn't agree with my driving style.

Bottom line.. without getting into a flame war.. is that both are very competitive and it's a choice...

Whatever you decide, have fun!

I run a B44 myself. I have beaten and been beaten by the XXX4. Both are good cars. As to how easily mine breaks, depends how odd I land jumps, etc... I've only broken a few arms and had a couple spur gears chew up a bit but that's somewhat to be expected. Nothing major thus far!

B44 by far the #1 choice and lets get real they all will break but the XXX4 breaks far more then any other 4wd I have seen in my opinion it hurt the 4wd class when it came out trying to replace the XX4 which is better then the XXX4
I have seen B44, Kyosho,XXX4 and Hot Bodies all run and I like the B44 far better but the Hot Bodies is right there with it

Also dont base to much off a pro driver due to they wreck very little is why thiers stay going so well try to look at someone running one that is at your level unless your run atthe pro level
Just my thoughts

If you want to be a little different, get the Hot Bodies D4. It is very strong and it handles like it is on rails.

Dude you don'yt have to be a pro to have a nice running 4wd. You just need to treat it nicely and stay on top of the bearings plastic and driveshafts.

If a 4wd slops out it will let you know when it needs attention.

I wonder why you don't like the lazer zx-5 sp ? have you driven one ?

I like all the cars but i am curious what you didn't like about this car.

I have heard the D4's are pretty pricey is this true or are they about the same as a B44
OH the Lazer seems to be a nice buggy to just have seen one locally have some problems but that was only one guy so not sure on them to much I hae watched a few D4's go and they seam to be really solid

Very true on the attention part but I believe the XXX4 needs far to much attention then should be needed. Heck look what you can pick them up for used price wise that shows how many people have seen one run and break man the XX4 is worth more then the XXX4

Ia not talking based on a pro for a nice running 4wd I mean base your driving skills off someone that equal to you then you can see the durability show threw to you all of them perform good I am just talking durability

There are a lot of XXX-4 for sale out there because there are just that many around.. it's been around for a lot of years and up until somewhat recently, there wasn't any competition level cars that could jump...

There are a few of us at our local track that run the XXX-4 and even a few XX-4.. and all the rest too!

Here's what I see.. they all break if you hit something or land wrong.. that's just the nature of 4wd mod... They all have lots of parts and more to maintain.

XXX-4 breaks front spindles and carriers, and if you smack the wall at the end of a straight a chassis lol!

XX-4 breaks front arms, front spindles and carriers, and both shock towers.

B44 break the front and rear bevel gears, front arms and shock shafts

ZX-5 bevel gears and front arms

Just pick a car and drive it! lol

Have fun!

thats so true, get one, drive it, have fun!

it's all about the driving, my xxx4 was breaking all the time, then i learned how to drive it. yes i still break it when it hits the pipe or wall, i don't really care anymore, it takes $7 and 5 minutes to fix it once in a while. same with the B44 Zardoz tries to beat me with

best car to get is one you can drive, be happy with and get parts for!
