If they do, I hope they make a conversion and some plastic spurs too!

I heard from a local AE driver that they are making a kit that will fit the 8, 8T, and SC8. LRP motor and ESC and Reedy batteries...thats all I know...

LRP Brushless ESCs hav a reputation for going "poof" on 4 and 6 cell NiMH packs. I can't wait to see the fireworks when the try to build one that works with a 4S LiPo.

So true. Surely they would have to make a larger 1/8 scale combo but if anything like the 1/10 scale, won't last very long

I run LRP Sphere Comp ESC's in 10th scale 2wd and 4wd buggy and they have proven to be very reliable.

For people who have done conversions on a buggy already:

What do you prefer for the buggy such as the RC8, Losi 8ight?

For the RC8, I have been using the 1512 2.5d and MM and works lovely.

This setup has been working very well for me and I am using it only for racing, not bashing applications:

Motor: Neu 1512 2.5d/f
ESC: Mamba Max w/fan (until my Monster Max arrives)
Battery: ThunderPower eXtreme v2 5000 mAh 4s 14.8v
Spur Gear: Kyosho 46T (a LOT quieter than the stock steel spur gear)
Pinion: 19T
Run Time: approx. 18-22 minutes

Right now it appears that the common thing to go with is motors in the 2000Kv or less range, depending on cell count. The Neu 1512 2.5D is becoming a popular motor and it is 2050Kv. the Medusa 2000Kv 60mm V2 motor also works quite well.

As for ESCs, guys are using a range from modded Mamba Max ESCs and Tekin R1 Pros to the Mamba Monster ESC and lutach is using one he is working on to get distributed.

As for battery cell counts, 4S and 5S are the most popular. With the higher end selection being anything Enerland cell based, and the cheapo Zippy lipos that appear to work good.

If you do the center 46T plastic kyosho spur thing, you need to do alittle shimming changes, minor, but still something to keep in mind.

I run the following right now:

Neu 1512 2.5D motor or Medusa 2000Kv motor
PolyRC 4S 25C 6000mah battery pack
RCPD conversion
Mamba Monster ESC V1 (still works, knock on wood)

The 6000mah pack I use is probably as heavy as I would go.
