Default Mamba 4600 & 5700 vs. Novak Havok 8.5

I'm really torn here and I need your help....Mamba or Novak???

Mamba is 4600kv, Novak is 5000kv.

Mamba is capable of running 3S, Novak is not

Novak is cheaper than Mamba

AND if I got the Mamba Max what would be the pros and cons to getting the 5700kv over the 4600kv??

What are you running it in?

I have run alot of speedos and motors and for the money and great performance you can't beat the Mamba Max and the 4600.

Get the Mamba Max and a 4600 with a 2s battery to race and a 3s battery to play.

Since you are running a 4600 Why don't you get a Sidewinder system? The 4600 will hands down be faster than the novak 5000 because castle motors are slotless. I run a 4600 in my 2wd buggy and truck for competition racing and they are fast.

I think we covered this already:

http://www.rctech.net/forum/electric...idewinder.html

Basically, the Sidewinder is faster and the Novak 8.5 is ROAR legal.

The Castle motors should also be ROAR legal in a couple months.

For offroad anyway... they will be legal for 2009.

Glassdoctor, I'd really like to know if castle's motors will be roar legal next year. I run a gtb 10.5 right now and would like to move up to the 5700. If its not gonna be legal I'm gonna have to buy an 8.5. How do Novak motors run on the mamba?

I've been running a Novak 8.5 with the 13MM rotor in a XXX-T (off road) with a Castle Sidewinder. I get occasional cogging (like if I spin out and am rolling backwards) but I actually like it better than running the same motor with a Novak controller because the Sidewinder is tunable. I still like the feel of brushed motors and I think the Sidewinder/8.5 combo is closer to the feel of a brushed motor than with a Novak contrlller.

The 5700 is as powerful as a Novak 5.5 if not more.
A friend switched from a 6.5 to the 5700 and said it had too much power.
So if you are aiming for 8.5 power level reconsider getting it.

I am a big fan of the Mamba Max 5700. Being able to program or tune the ESC through Castle Link is a great feature.
