At this time that is true but that will be changing in the near future. I guess I forgot because only touring in are area runs those classes. No one runs them in offroad as it is mod at every track within 200 plus miles of me.

We have 2 touring tracks that run those classes.

We don't really have "mod" around here aside from 4wd..."Stock" and "Super Stock" are far and away the largest classes. The "A" at Nats in Stock truck and Buggy looked like a Pegasus Hobbies club race.

If I raced at an area like that then I would run some type of sensored setup because I want to race. I would run what is needed to run in the biggest class so if 13.5 is it then I would run that with more than likely the SpeedPassion speedo setup.

And therein lies the problem created by manufacturers BEFORE any sanctioning bodies made a ruling on systems.No matter what trinity ads may say there is no such thing as a 13.5 stock motor.17.5 is stock . says the rules. that simple.. 13.5 is super stock 19t equivalent. and after this year a 10.5 will be considered mod in 2009. Also the castle motors are 100% illegal for 2 reasons;
as mentioned before the wind pattern does not meet the criterea

and the stack and rotor itself is longer, which also does not meet the criterea.

for these reasons alone i would go with the havoc system, or ANY sensored system,not to mention that sensored systems provide a smother linear throttle response instead of feeling like an on/off switch like sensorless systems do.. Leave the sensorless systems for bashing, or 1/8 conversions, if your going racing pick up a sensored system, the sidewinder may be cheaper in the short run , but it wont be that cheap about the time you have to pick up a sensored rig because you either want to run a roar sanctioned race, or run at a club that runs by roar rules where stock or super stock are required to be sensored. and someone posted that they are running a sensored motor with a sensorless speedo- ilegal in stock or super stock- the sensor system is required to be operational.So zip tieing the sensor wire to your shock tower doesnt count.

I can understand the ROAR thing but to be honest in most areas ROAR is a on life support at best.

As far as sensored being smoother I guess it depends which companies product you buy. The sensored speedos being smoother are also a thing of the past. That was the rap the other companies used, in the beginning stages that was true but with the newest programming out from Castle the on/off swith reference is untrue. Been running Castle for over a year and the new programming is smooth enough for me to rock crawl so unless one don't setup the speedo correctly then smoothness is not a factor.

You should basically figure out do you want to support ROAR or not. Plain and simple. If you want to run a ROAR race and Castle isn't allowed in mod it is very easy to run a mod brushed motor for that race since the Castle speedo can run both brushless and brushed motors so you have no problems.
