Well.. the pros put a hole in the tire or drill larger holes in the rims.. not for water.. but for air to escape...

This is so when you jump or the tire takes some force the air gets pushed out of the hole... if it doesn't come back.. the tire gets flat spots and gets "loppy".. a bigger hole or hole in the tires allows the air to come back faster...

water = bad

What's happening to your tires is from water...

I can reuse most of my foam if I wanted too.. they look just about how they did when I put them in... and the tires never felt flat because of the foams shrinking up..

Anyways.. good luck and have fun!

you need to read more rc car mags cause i have only been into rc for 3 years and i have seen this in articles and at the track and it is done for the reason of getting dirt and water out of the tire.

Chill on the hating fellas your all right.

But here's the real deal. never buy wheels with holes and if you do tape them over in and out. Holes should only be on the tire, 2, 3 4 holes will do it depending on how fast you want air to regain the foam. Its a tuning option along with the foam.

Note the waffle pattern inside the tire.
Now a trick to stop those tires from eating the foam is to put duct tape around the foam but not tight just to the diameter of the foam insert.
This will help hold the foam together but will make it harder for water to escape. Bashers can get more out of there stock foam this way seems how most don't wash there tires.

So don't beat me up to bad if my thoughts aren't up to the same speed as yours fast or slow.

BTW those tires are obviuosly over wet at one time or another.

Holes in the wheels is for air flow to help keep the car form getting upset from going over bumps, landing jumps, ect., but people have found that with the help of centripetal force a hole in a tire will well help some of the stuff that might get in them come out. Although if you are running in mud, then the water will really never have a chance of coming out as the water will get in just as fast as it gets out.

otherwise you're just passing on second hand information, might be right might be wrong, and you shouldn't do it unless you yourself have personal experience with it.

Keep doing it, and believing it does everything you say.
the tire and foam companies will be happy for the extra business

I agree with that, as I have had more tires go bad for traction compound (like my pink taper pins) then water getting in them (Most of my other tires used on dusty tracks, or tracks with some light mud). I only put a hole in the wheel, not tire.

Pros don`t pay for their tires and use up several sets in one raceday . And the holes are for letting dirt and any moisture getting out from running on the track . Not dunking them . Dunking will ruin foams no matter how many hole you have in the tire .
