testing waters~ custom lipo plates? b44, xx-4, etc

yes, i know people have made "lipo plates" before.... but i have done a few to where i have machined "bumps" if you will in the plates so they sit flush or just above the bottom of a slotted chassis. i can make them whatever size/ thickness/ weight you want. i have made alum front rb-5 bulkheads, alum casterblocks for losi xx-4/xxx-4 and various other items and sold them on this site in the past with much success. the more i see these plates here and there the more i notice that no one offers anything like this.

i will try and get some pics up in the next few days or so of one i've made in the past for a local national champ:nod:

also, these can be made out of whatever material your looking for, stainless steel, alum, whatever you want. depending on the complexity of the plate i would be looking in the range of 15-30 bucks shipped. dont let the price scare you away like i said this is just a feeler.

please share any and all interest for anything you need and we can go from there:D

UPDATE! for all you orion 32,36, and 3800 guys! this is the plate for you. they are machined around the "bumps" in the bottom of the packs and do not raise the battery up very much for a nice fit. they are just under 3oz and should bring the weight up on whatever vehicle to just under a normal 4200 weight!

Any way to do one for a B4/T4 so we dont have to add weight to the outside of the battery walls or to the battery strap? I know with a Orion 5000mah, you have no room to spare under the battery, but if you run a orion 3800, you do...

like i said, if you can give me some dimensions of what your looking for i have no problems coming up w/ something:nod:

I run 4.5 oz ss lipo plates in both my b4 and t4 with 4800 and 3600's, johnny boy sold them to me

goooooing up

dr_hfuhuhurr 09-16-2008 06:02 PM

I just found some team fusion lead plates from a link somewhere on here. 4.4oz, I cut them in half, and re-heat shrunk them to the bottom of my trakpower 3200's.

chedda bob 09-17-2008 08:17 PM

should have some pics of stuff i'm working on in a day or two:nod:

chedda bob 09-18-2008 04:58 PM

will be working on this stuff all day at work tomorrow guys.

all you orion carbon lipo guys.... the 3600's w/ the "bumps" along the bottom... i am machining plates to fill those voids between the bumps if you will... the plates will be roughly 4-5 oz.... depending on what you want. so please keep the pm's coming in:nod:

Is it possible that you will eventually make a B44 plate? An idea I had was a plate nearly the same as the ones that come with the kit, only its wider and has no bumps for NIMH cells. It would allow you to keep your standard body posts with the SMC packs.

i have yet to have a b44 in my hands... so until then i'm not really sure what exactly your looking for?

hopefully when i get home tonight i can snap a few bud:tire::tire:

Catalyst 09-19-2008 08:22 PM

I also run the 3800 in my T4 and would buy one of your weight plates.

chedda bob 09-20-2008 04:04 PM

well well well, the orion plates were a HUGE success today at the track... sold them all within 5 mins:nod:

i will be going in on my off day tomorrow to the shop and making 10-20 of these.... and will have pics, etc tomorrow after i get home and settled in.

looks like i will be making them a touch thinner as well, they will most likely weigh in around 2.5 oz. but can make them 3oz like they are now if you would like... they are just a slightly snug fit in a b4/t4... losi's are no problem as they have a slightly taller battery tray.

chedda bob 09-21-2008 06:12 PM

bump for pics of the orion plates!:nod::nod:

crazy4wdracer 09-21-2008 06:18 PM

I am possibly interested in a plate for my B4, I am running the Orion 3800 carbon lipo with the bumps on the bottom. I'll keep watching this thread for pics, pm me when you get the price figured out. Thanks

chedda bob 09-21-2008 06:21 PM

pics are up!

price is $22 shipped or 20 picked up in metro detroit area:nod:

chedda bob 09-22-2008 03:19 PM

these are going pretty quickly... get em while they last:nod:

ruf 09-22-2008 03:35 PM

They look good dude! BTW, from a design standpoint, I think a light radius (3/16" to 1/4") on the corners would make for a more appealing finished product.
