Default E-Slayer

I always wanted an electric 1/10 scale 4wd truck, but no one made a decent one, Until now. Here is my Nitro Traxxas Slayer converted to electric brushless power. I pulled all the nitro stuff off, added an AE reciever box to the left side for my rx. It has been modified, mostly to improve the handling. I have added GTR shocks with varible piston valves, Jato dust covers, alloy shock ends, Aluminum pushrods that have been shortened to lower the CG, Platinum Revo carriers, Traxxas Center diff and rear brake kit. The center diff was designed for the Revo and is geared way to low for the Slayer's smaller tires, so I had to add a 34T spur and a 19T pinion to bring the gearing back closer to normal. Using a Tekno battery tray/straps, Tekno tranny mounted ESC tray, Mamba Max ESC, external BEC, Neu 1515/1Y/F 2200kv motor and RC-Monster motor mount. This thing is a rocket now, and is still under geared slightly. The lowered CG and center diff make it handle more like an 1/8 scale buggy now. People think it's a Slash until I hit the trhottle.

dont you think it would have been easier to buy an E-REVO and convert it to a slayer? and wouldnt it be a better setup in the end?

maybe if you're strictly a buy it and run it kind of guy
but you'd still be left with a bunch of parts to buy.
there wouldn't be nearly the same sense of accomplishment.
and I don't see how the later could be a "better setup".

The E-revo is a lot cleaner chassis-wise and it has built-in battery holders. It would be a lot cleaner, but the Slayer is supposed to be the "2.5" length and the the E-Revo is "3.3" length...so from what I understand that it won't work as a Slayer.

Why don't you just pick a name and stay with it? It's not like most of us can't tell who you are in about 5 posts...

8-25 was a Monday. OCRC is not open on Mondays.

There was one there last Saturday. He let me give it a couple laps around the track. This truck handled like crap but with some tuning I bet would be a monster! I'd be interested in doing this but can't find it in me to buy a $500 truck plus the $xxx.xx in support electronics to get this thing going.

It is cool, however...

very nice man, thats exactly how I would like to do a conversion. looks clean. I prefer the nitro platform to the e-revo as it looks to be more durable (al chassis) and you dont need to contend with the limited battery sizes

Here are some shots of the pushrod mods I made. By using the small red Revo washers (one on each end) I could raise or lower the truck (and the center of gravity) by about 1/4 per washer. So with both washers out the truck would sit almost 1/2 lower. Of course when running it that low you need to stiffen the suspension (stiffer springs and thicker oil). When set to the lower setting the truck handles more like a 1/8 buggy, you can rail the turns. With it set at the higher level it handles like a stock Slayer, lots of suspension action and sliding power drifts.

Stock pushrods on top (silver) modded ones on the bottom (green).
