This year we are at the Ohio State Fairgrounds which is the East side of Columbus, probably 20 minutes or so from the Franklin County Fairgrounds where the race was the past 2 years.

There are hotels VERY close to the State Fairgrounds.

The track will be VERY fresh for the electric race, so we should be able to keep enough moisture in it so traction is not an issue.

This is going to be a good one.

The Ohio State Fairgrounds aren't on the east side of Columbus, they're actually right in the middle of the city.

I heard that "Stock" is going to be 27 turn or 13.5.

Modified is exactly that.

19 turn is 10.5.

I will know better next week when I go to the local race.

The hotels in Hilliard that were close to last year's race will probably be too far away for your liking. Still doable though.

There is a Holiday Inn Express near the Ohio State Fairgrounds somewhere around Hudson Ave. There is a Red Roof In on Olentangy River Road that would be pretty close, in fact any of the hotels around OSU would be fine.

I have to say +1 to no more stupid big jumps. Last year that part of the track was more like a disaster area. I also believe that jump mangled my throttle servo in 1/8 buggy at the nitro event from landing so hard because there was basically no landing spot. Maybe a big jump could work if it was designed better. But you don't need big jumps to make a great track layout.

This year's race is a considerable distance from last year. Last year the best place to stay was the Motel 6 on Cemetary Rd. near I-270. That motel is a good 20 minutes away from this year's track, and you have to drive right through downtown Columbus. You don't want to stay there this year.

This facility is really cool. It's similar to a basketball or hockey arena, only a little bigger, surrounded by about 5,000 seats. If they would generate some local newspaper, radio, and TV publicity, we might even have spectators.

Nice and warm -- no salamanders. And no leaky roof if it rains or the snow melts. So all you west coast guys will be comfy. Three years ago Curt built an absolutely dialed track there and this year's will, from what they've said, be larger.

Just bring your full selection of pink tapers, with 10 sets of tires all Dremeled to different pin heights. You'll be fine.

Ha, that will be a real fun time when the full pin height of a Losi Taper Pin is about 1mm. Just for conversation, how was last years traction during practice, qualifying and mains?

Slightly off topic.

The CRCRC crew is getting ready to open for the winter indoor season. The new track is in and HOLY COW did the crew lay down a sweet track. If you are within driving distance it'll be worth the trip.

I'll post some pics when I get a chance.

This coming weekend 9/13 Sat we will have a 1/10th scale test and tune, then a 1/10th race on 9/14 Sun. This weekend only we will have 1/10th Gas Truck running with the electric racers. This weekend is to help the track settle in.

The following weekend we will have the Finals of the Ohio Pro Series Nitro race. Practice 9/19, Racing 9/20. We should have our regular Electric race on Sun 9/21.

Electric will run the normal Sunday schedule.
