Default Spur Gear wobble...???

On my Slash, when I have the cover off the spur gear and accelerate the spur gear wobbles as if it's bent. I took it off and it is not bent....Could it be that the slipper clutch shaft is bent?

Isn't that a question that you are in the best position in to answer yourself? I mean, you have the Slash.

But yea, I don't see why it can't be the slipper shaft since you said the spur gear wobbles yet the gear itself looks ok. It could still be the hole in the spur though.

does it affect performace at all? Maybe the three screws that hold the Spur Gear on Are loose?

My first thought would be to change the spur gear. Not sure about slashes but on associated cars spurs start to somewhat do that when there worn.

From closer examination it does appear that the Spur Gear is warped.

I don't have a ton of exeprience in R/C but I get the impression that spur gears tend to have a very slight wobble. Like you can set gear mesh using the strip of paper method, but still find when you rotate the spur 360 that there's a little bit of resistance and binding in one spot.

You seeing something along the lines or do you think you have a more pronounced wobble?

Kinda makes me wonder about the quality of spur produced by Traxxas.

Is there another spur manufacturer for the Rusty/Slash?

It's funny how you mentioned this phenomenon. I just mounted a brand new Kimbrough B4 spur and I noticed that it wobbled too. I think some of their spurs are a little bit wobbly and not perfectly true. I think they're true enough for RCs but I'd definitely wouldn't use them for surgical equipments!

Maybe there is a different problem if a new spur wobbles . Could be the top shaft isn`t true or even a bearing problem .
