I don't think there's anything wrong with my Xcelorin motor, I just need to get the gearing and proper cooling set up.

THanks for all the input on my steering problem guys, I will try tightening my servo saver, and playing with the rear shock oil/position. Anyone have luck with the 2.0 steering column? Is it a direct fit?

This summer, it'll average around 90-100F, so I may have to open more cooling holes.
hmmm. that's not that far from what I'm getting with the 14/45 combo.
I don't have any extra cooling aids and am running 5S with the MMM2200 combo.
Is this considered normal operating temp?

Well, my MMM 2200Kv system on a 4S battery, runs like that as well with no heat sinks, and that's in my Jammin Truggy(prolly weighs close to 10 lbs!) I think that's about right. So as long as it's not at or near 200F, you should be ok.

I had someone tell me yesterday that all of us who are going to run 1/8 brushless were doing it totally wrong. He said we need to be using a nitro clutch and run a throttle servo for brakes. I have read several threads on here about 1/8 brushless and have never heard mention of this. Is this guy a tool or are there any guys doing this because it is better?

The Teckno kit has the optional brake servo and the clutch. From what I understand or have heard anyone with gas in there background usually thinks the guys without brakes are idiots, and the guys with electric background think the brake servo users are idiots.

I think it depends on your driving style, believe me he is not out of the norm, I say its 50 50 brake servo to no brake servo

As indicated Tekno Rc has a clutch option for BL 8th scales. Impakt rc has them for sale. I run direct drive but there are advantages to the clutch system and believe when summer temps get here the clutch will run cooler. I have always ran 50/50 brake bias on the nitros so direct drive has been ok. The clutch system should run cooler and reduces the abuse on the drive line and speed control. Tekno supplies a clutch system, motor mount, hardware and a CHASSIS for a very reasonable price.

It's because you can handle a corner FASTER when you have brake bias. Anyone who says different, just doesn't understand.

Well, since this guy never saw the discussion, I'll boil it down. On a tight, technical track, with lots of 90 and 180 turns, a car with brake bias can rotate freely without being too loose. On a big, flowy, typical open style track, you aren't likely to notice. On top of that, most electric guys NEVER HAD mechanical brakes, and don't understand how important they can be. If you race against nitro, on a tight, technical track, it makes a HUGE difference. If not, well... to each his own.

You're not calculating all the variables involved... that's all. ...and yes, I've raced on many tight technical tracks all over.

I have an 8ight I am converting. From what I heard locally from a few drivers of the track I race at, the Losi conversion kit is the better kit, and you can run more packs that with the Teckno kit.

The track is super short, and tight with many jumps...

I am starting to wonder if I should go with the Tekno kit for the brake and new chassis (I have always been a electriic person)

Here, Adam Drake, a Professional Racer, sums it up in the beginning of the video:

+ YouTube Video
ERROR: If you can see this, then YouTube is down or you don't have Flash installed.

It is possible to dial a car without the brakes, but it ends up "Loose" and can't hang with the niitros.
