Anybody running Castle in their buggy? I read a lot of people think it's to much. I tuned mine yesterday on the track and LOVE the 2200KV in my buggy..

I'll be running my castle 2200kv in my 8ight EU converted to brushless alongside a hobbywing 150a ESC. I'll have both 4s and 6s available... I'm quite sure it'll be 'too much' if I can't control my trigger finger at a track heh.

My mate runs a 6s/2200kv castle setup in his vorza and it's plain FUN. 4s is fine sure, but it doesn't make one smile quite as much. :P

Anyone know what bodies fit the 8ight e with 50mm high battery packs without extensive modification?

hey nathant, how did you go with the mount..have you found one that fits??
this motor is a beast, i have one in my obese xxl and it really does throw it around like lifeless rag doll..the torque is phenominal

Hey mate, the stock mount fits the castle 1717 motor easily without any problems. Only difference is it uses 4mm screws instead of the usual 3mm screws. With a 45t spur, the biggest pinion that fits is 22t. I'm hoping to find a compatible smaller spur to be able to put in a bigger pinion. Even after 15min of running on 6s the motor and ESC are barely warm. Its bloody fast as it is but it does have a lot more potential. I'm really surprised that more people don't use this motor in buggies and truggies.

I think 1/8 scale is most popular for racing and the 1717 would not be suited for that sort of application. Around here there is only one 1/10 track that I know of and they probably wouldn't accept a 1/8 buggy on their track. Its why I stick to bashing.

Does anyone know of any smaller spurs available for the 8ight-E? Smallest I've seen is a 43t but wondering if anyone knows of any other brands that would fit?

No advice on what bodies offer the most clearance for battery packs? The stock E body is about 2mm too low.

Try the FTW Exabyte. I don't seem to have any clearance issues with my 4s packs.
