Losi 1/8 8ight E 4wd Thread
#6767

I bought a used 8ight e, it has a castle 1800kv motor with a 48 spur and 15 pinion. How much larger can I go on the pinion without overheating the motor? I'd like more top end but I don't know the gearing range on the 8ight e. Thanks for any help you can offer.

have a chance to get a eight 2.0e for cheap that was wrecked really hard. my question is can you upgrade the car with the tekno v4 kit, or would it all have to be done with losi products. car will need a new chassis and some other stuff for sure, just wondering what my options are should i chosse to buy it

Your 3 teeth Off on the Spur, You need to be running 45/15 which is what 99.9% of the guys run with a standard 1900Kv or similar.

Whilst on the subject of gearing, am I about right on 46t spur, 13t pinion on a 2250kv on 4s??
I have a 11,12t pinion in my box too if needs be.......

I have the same motor and MMM esc and I run at 46/16 at 85-90% throttle on a large 1/8 outdoor. I would just keep the 15 pinion and go down to stock gearing which is 45/15..

Ackermann
More
(Bigger difference in steering angle between the two font wheels)
More Ackermann makes the steering more consistent, and smoother.
It just feels right, also at low speeds and in tight turns.
Less
(Smaller, or no difference in steering angle between the two font wheels) Less Ackermann makes the steering more agressive at high speeds.
The car turns in more agressively.
It doesn't work well when either traction or cornering speeds are low.

Recently I bought a Losi 8ight E 2.0 and was taking apart the diffs and everything to put in new bearings which needed to be replaced. After putting the gears in the diffs, I tried putting the case back on, but whenever pressure is on the bearing inserts, or on the diff at all (Like when you screw on the control arm pin holders) the diff pinion and the diff gears lock up and don't to move. I was wondering if this was a problem with the case, or a problem with the gears. I've already tried shimming it in a multitude of different ways.
Also, if I'm running a Tekin 1700kv T8 with a 48tooth center diff. What pinion should I use to keep temps low but keep enough power? I know it needs to be low, like lower than 15.
Any suggestions help! Thanks!

Hi Guys, i've got a question to ask. If i'm using a 46t spur gear with a 1750kv-1800kv with 4s lipo. What pinion gear would you guys recommend? The track is medium sized, pretty technical with a couple of straights. Thanks guys
