The kit also works with the 8T, so wonder if a 8IGHT-T-E kit is in the works?

Runtime can vary. I know badassrevo on his converted losi 8ight was running almost 25 minutes with a 5000mah pack, then on a track change, couldn't make 20. I would say a 5000mah should be good for 15 minutes.

If you must make 20 minutes, give a 6000mah pack a look. I did this with my rc8 by using a PolyRC 6000mah 4S 25C pack. its heavier of course, but not really noticeable in the RC8. as the weight is more centerd on the losi, could work out quite well.

called my local shop today to claim one of these. He said that they called and asked him if they wanted one or two. He got two. I am sure that some of the bigger stores will surely get more, but it looks like most places might only have two of these in the first run. haha

i had my hobby shop order one from horizon the other day it should be in my hands by the end of sept. right now they are very limited although mine isnt gonna be the rtr its based on the current race roller with a clear body. this is a great deal and i truly think losi will end up putting thease on the market. (i hope) i think electric is the future. electric is just simply easier wich makes rc racing alot more enjoyable.

Well, so far there isn't an electric RTR yet. The only thing Losi has released is a Race Roller 8ight-E. But I imagine if the RR takes off they would go ahead with a RTR, but lets' hope they use the 590 servos all around instead of that little 270.

Hacker is working on a E50 motor, i tought that one has 4 poles or even 6.

Feigao makes good stuff as Orion and Speed passion are all Feigao motor's.
(offcourse that only 1/10th scale.)

I had an electric 8 and sold it. I wish I hadn't. Now I need to buy another.

Having owned one, the biggest issue has always been an ESC that can not only handle the serious abuse/heat, but also deliver a smooth power band doing it. The Mamba Max could handle the heat (with mods), but was touchy. I've driven the Tekin ESC and it was pretty legit.

So how long has Losi been in the ESC business? And 8th scale ESC on top of that? Hmmm. I have my doubts honestly. I'm kinda leaning the Nue/Tekin Motor ESC combo just cuz it is proven. But we'll see.

Other than that.....looks legit.........and cheaper cuz of big company is making them.

Thought I'de whip out an old pic.........

There has been some whining about the cost. this post was copied from another forum.

So, lets break this down....

Total cost to get on the track. (The radio was left out on propose because both kits need one so I chose not to include the radio cost in this comparison. Same goes for the steering servo.)

E8
Kit 879.99
Battery 219.99
Triton 2 Charger 129.99
Cell Balancer 34.99.

Total Investment 1264.96

Nitro Losi 8
Kit 449.99
OS V-Spec 299.97
Losi Starter Box 74.99
Gell Cell 29.99
Glow Ignitor W/Charger 29.99
JR 9000s Throttle Servo 114.99
Losi Receiver pack 49.99
Triton 2 Charger 129.99 Will do the Gell Cell too
2 Gallons of fuel 50.00 (two since one hardly gets you through a proper breakin)
1- Extra glow plug 5.00 (I think we all know you'll need more than one!)
JP-3 Pipe and header 74.99
Voltage Regulator 21.99

Total Investment 1276.88

These prices were taken right off A-mains site (Except the fuel, glow plug and E8 kit and battery)
I think we can all agree there are a couple things on the nitro list could be had a little cheaper. For instance I am sure a NiMH receiver pack would do just fine which would eliminate the need for the regulator and possibly the Triton 2 charger but with out that charger you would need a charger for the get cell. So it is a bit of give and take. I tried to compare apples to apples on this though.
Looks like it works out pretty even for up front cost.

Food for thought.

i wouldnt mind a more cost effective 1/8 solution to get back out on the dirt. there's a track 15min from my house, but i dont run 1/8 nitro (granted the track is owned by a few b00bs so that doesnt help either)

we'll see, only takes time folks. remember how $$$ top line kits were back 20yrs ago. and see where its gone. i still cant get around the idea that a $99 m18 comes with bearings for example

Cost: we have seen the electric vs nitro breakdown example MANY times and it's about always just like that. Apples to apples, it's always about the same as nitro... or cheaper.

RTR: There will be a full RTR pretty soon... there will be two if Losi does it.

Off topic, but does anyone know anything about THESE? I was pondering buying a used T for a conversion and putting a new chassis on it, but those seem AWFULLY cheap.
