It depends on the packs your running & what you need to do. Its likely going to take an hour to charge a pack.

I would want at least 2. The motor and battery you get will determine your runtime. Getting 2-3 hours of runtime will take a quite a few battery pack runs.

All you need is 2 zippy packs, a good charger, and you will be running non stop. The 40c zippy packs can be charged at up to 5c or in about 12 minutes if your charger & powersupply can handle it. You can put the packs on the charger right after running since they should barely get warm. I use the hyperion EOS0610i and alway use the 10 amp setting which allows me to charge a 4000 mah pack in about 25 minutes, but the last time I have ever needed to wait for a pack to finish charging was about 8 months ago.

Also, choosing the right motor is must in order to be able to run non-stop. For 4s, shoot for 2000kv or less and you should be good. If your esc can handle 6s, then a good setup would be a 3300 mah 6s pack and a 1400kv motor. That will get you longer runtimes and potentially faster charge times than a standard 4s 5000 mah setup.

are you sure that the zippys can handle that charge rates?
I own several 2s 5000mah 25c packs. i think they are supposed to be charged at only 1c?

thanks. i'll be sticking with 2x2 4's though, thats what i run in my erevo, and i want to keep all the batteries the same for a few reasons.

i'll look for a 2000kv or less setup

Castle Creations Mamba Monster and Tekin RX8 are two of the best out there. I would lean towards the Mamba because the motor you have is sensorless(don't need the sensor capabilities of the tekin). Both would be great choices though. I have heard nothing but troubles with the Losi ESC so I would advise you steer clear of that one.

I have seen problems with all the ESC's out there. I have had good luck with the losi one. The lastest software update decreased motor temps by 30 deg on an ESC I upgraded the other day. Just keep the brakes turned down on the losi ESC. (20% is the recommended starting point and still a TON of brakes). I think having the brakes too high is killing the speedo's off but they are figuring that out which is why the lower settings in the latest firmware update. I have seen CC, Tekin and LRP all smoke at our track. I will admit the CC is one of the more reliable systems out there.

Very true! None of them are perfect, and given the right circumstances any of them will smoke. I have seen good and bad things with the losi ESC. A buddy of mine smoked one a bit ago, but I'm not sure what firmware he had on it. My CC system has been holding up and preforming excellently!

2S even with a high KV motor will be very hard on the battery and still not very fast.
