1700kv= 1700 rpm per volt
2100kv = 2100 rpm per volt

They offer different motors for different uses (good).

It seems most people will run 4 cell lipo which will give 16.8-13 volts throughout a run. So multiply the motor kv by the battery voltage and you get 30,000+ rpm. Thats a lot like the effective rpm of a nitro and will almost certainly have more punch.

the 1700 will work better with 5s and the 2100 will work with both 4s and 5s

I almost agree. I think that Nitro night and Electric night will eventually go by the wayside in favor of 1/10 night and 1/8 night.

Where does it say 4-pole? I like 4-pole motors, I just didn't see it mentioned anywhere.

How much runtime could we expect from the 5000mah 4S packs that Losi sells?

I am selling my 10th scale electrics and getting one of these as soon as I can. If not one of these then I will get one of the kits, conversions from Losi and one of there ESC/Motor combos and build it myself.

Probably 15-20 mins, maybe a drop longer depending on gearing and driving style.

They run 20 min mains in my area. I am one of those guys that don't use the brakes much. I coast into corners and roll on the power off the corner. I try to use my left index finger to control wheel spin instead of using the slipper to do it. If 5000mah will get me 20 mins that that is the what I will get. If not I will save up the extra bucks and get a 8000 from Maxamps.
