Default 8ight schocks on my SLASH...Oh yeah!!!

So the truck is awsome. But we all know the shocks are sub standard for this 1/8th scale truck. Say what you want, if its based off of a mid sized truck its a 1/8th scale.

So, I placed a bid on ebay for a brand new, full set of 8ight shocks. Got them for $50 shipped. The outcome? Well you decide...

Start by removing your stock shocks.

Then trim the inside of the arm where the arrow is pointing.

These are the spacers I used on th efront top shocks. Other wise the shock will hit the shock tower. I pulled them out of my parts box. I think they came with my Wheelie king.

I trimmed the spacer so it would fit the top of the shock cap of the 8ight shocks.

Then I took the shock and put some large fuel line through the shock cap mounting hole.

I them cut it even with the shock cap.

This is what it looked like when it was ready to be installed.

Here it is all mounted to the shock tower.

Here you can see how its sits off of the tower and doesnt hit a thing^_^

DONE!!!

Now the rear. They were pretty straight forward. The top of the shock screwd right in using the feul line and a spacer was not needed. You can see in th epicture below that the spacer is used on the bottom to preven it from rubbing on the arm.

Now its all done and ready to conquer the 1/8 scale track!!

Nicely annotated with pictures. It was fun to read/look.

Btw, $50 for a set of 4 8ight shocks? Damn, are you serious? That means the shocks alone are worth 1/7th of the cost of my 8ight lol. I bet I would probably get way more for it if I sold it part by part, rather than whole. It would take forever though. Heh, just saying.

I guess that concept is true to its real life counterpart (i.e. car parts are much more expensive separately than when you buy a full car), hehe.

Thanks guys. Took it out for a dry run and the truck feels awsome. More responsive too, yet soft enough to swalloy up the ruts. I'll be hitting up the 1/8the scale track tomorrow. Going to take some 25 and 35 weight oil to play with and dial it in for the track. Here is a picture of what it will be facing tommorow

$50 is a deal considering a new set will set you back $99.00. Chop shops must do pretty good considering ebay is full of them!

Revelation Raceway is in Ontario California. Tha is only the left side of the track. It has 2 175 foot straights. One in front and one in back. What you cant see is the two doubles, ruts, table top and swooping turn. Its a pretty big track and they change the layout about every couple of months. Adam Drake and Rhonda Skelton frequent teh track at least once a week. Gill Losi and the Kyosho boys frequent the place too. I used to get "star" struck but now I'm jaded
