What is th best 4wd 1/10 electric buggy to buy

I would look at the B44 if you dont have any SXS or stick packs because it takes saddle packs. If you want to use stick packs get the xxx-4.

Don't forget the Kyosho ZX-5 SP and the Xfactory X-5 too. The kyosho accepts stick packs also. The X-5 is a conversion of the XX-4 and XXX-4 combining the best of both of Losi's buggys. The second to none handling of the xx-4 with the rocket like acceleration of the XXX-4 in one buggy!

I am glad you asked this question chris1381 as I was wondering the same thing. The main buggies I was looking into were the Associated B44, Hot Bodies D4, and Losi XXX4. At the moment, it sounds as if the XXX4 will be ruled out, but how does the D4 and B44 compare. They both seem to be very similar, although I am leaning toward the B44 just because of the cheaper price...

The B44 is a real good car to start with and I have seen and raced against the D4 and its a very fast car as well.
I have also seen the Kyosho FS run just recently and that car is going to be fun to watch in the upcoming Nats, upgrade to the sp.
The three that I have mentioned are all running saddle packs.
I went with the B44 and I'm on my second one because of parts support and its a good car.

How tough are 1/10 scale 4wd buggies for the most part... more specifically the B44? Thats the main thing I am looking for in a buggy. You can change everythign else on it for the track, but toughness is one thing you can't change. Should I be worried about breaking something on the B44? Or is it pretty rare to break something on it unless its a ridiculous crash? I have never raced this class which means lots of crashes getting used to the buggy, and this type of racing...

In most other racing sports I can think of, crashing is VERY expensive!
So if you are breaking parts in RC, that means you need to turn down the throttle on your controller an learn to drive the track without crashing even once.
Once you can make it around the track at least 3 times in a row without crashing, then you can turn up your controller a small notch...and repeat. The point is to become a better driver so you never crash.
But to answer your question, the B44 parts are very inexpensive but tough (typical high AE quality). The carbon fiber chassis is the most expensive part at ~$50.

Supported with parts and user friendly and durable in 4wd...I would say the answer to all these is the Tamiya Durga. No offense intended but if you are new to 4wd the B44 and the others may be a bit much...whereas the Durga is a good "Club +" level racer that is easy to work on and parts are easy to get.
Hope I helped

I`d have to question about it being race worthy as I have never ever seen one on a track . Looks cheaply made and only seen a few bashing , never racing .

Just to through my 2 cents in I have been runing my D4 since January and have only broke one front arm and a rear hub. My track is very high bite with 5 inch PVC for pipes so its hard on cars. The shocks are the smoothest shocks I have ever had and have had a lot of people agree with me.
