I really like the XXX-T CR for truck and AE B44 for 4wd buggy . As for brushless Castle Creations Mamba Max seems to perform better the the Novak systems .

I would start out with T4 first because it's easier to drive than a buggy and it is more forgiving and after you get better with the truck then I would get a four wheeler.

Default T4 The only way to go

I have a Factory Team T4 with a Novak Brushless GTB 13.5. Complete Ready to race with all the fancy goodies. The 13.5 is 2 Races old. My local track closed up.

Novak is the only way to go. Great service, comparable pricing and they are SIMPLE to work with. E-mail me at [email protected]

I have everything and anything you need to get started back up.

I too am looking for batteries and charger. From what I have been reading it seems like the orien 2s 3600's are a sure bet as far as batteries go. I also have read nothing but good things about the Duratrax Ice Charger. This winter that is what I will be running.

The Ice chargers are nice [I have two] , but the Team Checkpoint version is much better and already has back light screen from factory . As for lipos , I have no clue as I run Nimh .

I have two Ice chargers and they do everything I need. I run Orion 3200 and 4800 as our track requires hard cased lipo. There are some others out there now such as SMC, Thunderpower, Tekin, etc. If you are racing you will want to check your local track rules as far as motors and batts.

There are quite a few racers out in my area that run XX-4 and do quite well. Back in the day.. you had to worry about heating up the motor and batteries too much because of all the weight in it... Now with brushless motors it's not a concern. The added weight in the XX-4 helps the suspension work better than most of the newer 4wd without having to set much up. Parts seem to be in good supply as well..

The Castle Creations brushless systems seem to be pretty good. Never see folks using them having any sort of problems. They are however kind of large.. so make sure it will fit in the 4wd you decide to get.

LiPos are cool.. but if you go for a saddle pack car like the xx-4 or b44 you will be limited on what LiPos you can get..

Welcome back and have fun!

the xx-4 was so good, especially in comparo to the xxx4, that they brought it back for a time. and then canned it again. sadly.

I'm trying to decide between the Checkpoint TC-1030 and the Ice charger... what features make the 1030 better? Thanks.

The Team checkpoint has a built in backlight , which is a pain to install on the ice charger . Also has up to 30 amp discharger , Ice only has 10 amp . Has two fans , Ice has one .

Believe the rest are the same between the two .
