I asked because from what I've seen on Team Associated website, there are already 3 versions/revisions of the B4.

B4 from 2004.
B4 SE from 2005.
B4 RS from 2006.

Not sure what the exact difference between them is, but I did notice a few different parts from the 3 different versions of the manuals...

Perhaps it was only the RTR version that had any changes between those 3 revisions. Maybe the Team and Factory Team kits stayed the same? I have no idea.
One is a ready to run and one is a normal non factory B4.

that new associated looks very nice

Associated B44
Kyosho Lazer SP
Academy SB Carbon

Check out the July '08 issue of RC Car Magazine. They did a 1/10 scale 4wd electric buggy shootout. The ZX-5 SP came out in first, the Hot Bodies D4 second, the Associated B44 third, and the Tamiya 501X fourth. The Academy was not part of the shootout.

They're all good vehicles. It all comes down to personal preference as well as what brand(s) your LHS supports and stocks.

Sorry, not sure what you mean.

I know there are 3 variations of the RC10B4: RTR version, Team kit, and Factory Team kit.

But on their website, it seems that those 3 variations have gone through 3 revisions/updates. I think all 3 variations share a common manual, but there are 3 manuals: one from 2004 called 'B4', one from 2005 for 'B4 SE' and the 2006 one for 'B4 RS' aka RaceSpec.

My guess was that the RTR variation has changed over those 3 years, but I'm not sure if the 2004 Team Factory/Team kits are any different from 2006 Team Factory/Team kits, other than the manual of course.

Yes. Technically, Kyosho calls it the "Lazer ZX-5 SP". The SP is just the latest version.

I would vote against the ZX5 if you're not racing - they are very fragile. To be honest, all of those you mentioned are pretty fragile for bashing, but the Kyosho is probably the worst basher of that bunch.

If you're going to bash around and not race, maybe consider a Rustler VXL. They are rediculously tough and dang fast out of the box. Maybe consider a monster truck too unless you want something that handles on rails.

Also, it might be out of your price range, but I'm loving the E-Revo. I added a Novak brushless system and it's plenty fast, real tough, and handles exceptionally for a monster truck. Another plus is parts are probably easier to find locally depending on your area.

Strictly pulling from the list you provided, I would pick the B44. That's a really nice RC there.
