+1 nothing, just get yourself a bunch of batteries or atleast two lipos. It is just too much fun everyone will want to try it out.

receiver/radio and paint job (if you're running with other Slashes). Nothing else. Also develop patience for Traxxas bashers.

Sure, if you got money to burn. As said before, it doesn't need much in terms of upgrades. If you just *gotta* bling it up with aluminum, you could look into STRC parts too (teamstrc.com)

The Slash doesn't need any upgrades except for lipo batteries

I think it's worthwhile to get the Traxxas big bore aluminum shock caps - less than $15 for a set of four. It's not really an upgrade but it's annoying when the stock caps pop off and you get oil all over your truck.

I think the Traxxas steering rack is a worthwhile upgrade. The stock bell crank is plastic on plastic with no bearings or bushings. I noticed that the truck turns better with the new rack.

Yeah, we had a guy at the track this weekend think the same thing, Now he just pulls the screw out of the shocktower and you have to replace it.
There has to be a weak link some where.

The stock bellcranks actualy have plastic bushings in them, just swap them out for 4 5x8 BBs and it is smooth as silk.

Now for the original post, This truck is realy good out of the box but it needs a few more things to make it prefect.

1. Lipo cutoff on ESC
2. Servo saver/ bellcranks, the servo mounted servo saver is pretty lame!!!
3. New radio, traxxas has worn out the TQ radio, they need something more modern on 2.4ghz.

The radio works fine but it is definatly old school. Traxxas has done a great job updating almost their entire line (Thanks god for hex head screws!!!) but the radio has to be next on the list.
