It refers to the way the cells are wired, in series or parallel. I found this on internet:
A battery is a group of cells.
A cell has a capacity, measured in Amp*Hours (pronounced "Amp Hours" ), abbreviated as "Ah".
A cell has a certain amount of potential to do work, measured in Volts, abbreviated as "V".

When you put cells in series, their voltage is added together. For example:

-----> [- 3.7V +] [- 3.7V +] [- 3.7V +] ----->

This battery has 3 cells in series, so this is called a "3S" battery. The total voltage of this battery is 3*3.7V = 11.1V.

When you put cells in parallel, their capacity is added together. For example:

.--> [- 1.2Ah +] --.
---|--> [- 1.2Ah +] --|--->
'--> [- 1.2Ah +] --'

This battery has 3 cells in parallel, so this is called a "3P" battery. The total capacitance of this battery is 3*1.2Ah = 3.6Ah.

You can use combinations of cells in series and in parallel to achieve different levels of Voltage and Capacitance. For example:

.--> [- 1.2Ah, 3.7V +] [- 1.2Ah, 3.7V +] [- 1.2Ah, 3.7V +] [- 1.2Ah, 3.7V +]--.
---|--> [- 1.2Ah, 3.7V +] [- 1.2Ah, 3.7V +] [- 1.2Ah, 3.7V +] [- 1.2Ah, 3.7V +]--|--->
'--> [- 1.2Ah, 3.7V +] [- 1.2Ah, 3.7V +] [- 1.2Ah, 3.7V +] [- 1.2Ah, 3.7V +]--'

This battery has 3 parallel groups of 4 cells in series, so this would be called a "4S3P" battery.
The total voltage of this battery is 4*3.7V = 14.8V, and the capacitance of the battery is 3*1.2Ah = 3.6Ah

I have nothing but good things to say about Trackpower and there customer support is second to none. One of my 4900's was feeling a little weak and they shipped me a new one and also let me keep the old one! I will buy only Trackpower lipo's.

You do know the 5400's are only 16C right?

i dont think thats a big deal when you look at the big picture, a good NiMH pack has a max discharge rate of 35A, the 4900 lipo is 96A and the 5400 is 86.4A

I also read that you can contact Novak and give them the serial number of the speed control and they can determine if it has the cutoff circuitry or not. I have a GTB that I'm not sure has Lipo cutoff circuitry so I'll contact them also.

Go ahead and buy the lipo. They have a very flat discharge curve and just stop as soon as you see a noticable loss in power..... I've been using my orion 3200s and orion 3600s and the power loss is noticable when the voltage gets under 7.0 volts....

I run touring 10.5 with thee 3600 orions and my voltage is always around 7.5 after 5 minutes.....

My suggestion would be to get something close to 5000 capacity since I know off road guys tend to run more than 5 minutes at a time.....

I just got off the phone with Novak @ 949-833-8873 and the customer service person was very helpful and friendly.

Regarding Lipo Cutoff, the GTB has a barcode and below it is the serial number beginning with a "J" followed by 5 numerics. It is located underneath the ESC so it has to be out of your car.

If the serial number begins with:

J22xxx or above it is the GTB with Lipo Cutoff Circuitry

If the serial number begins with:

J12xxx, J20xxx or any number below J22xxx, then it does NOT have Lipo Cutoff Circuitry.

Hope this tidbit helps
