Default Lap Counter Systems

Hey all, I run alot at a local club track that does not hold races but is looking for an economical lap counting system. I know the AMB stuff that is used most places is great but it is pricey for a club that has little income. I was wondering if any on you have used this and if it is junk or OK:

Comments please.
Thanks
Mike

A new amb system is four grand, and they still have problems from time to time scoring correctly. I wouldn't think a four hundred dollar system would stand a chance. My .02

Actually it works rather well..........A small carpet track in Monroe used the system and I never heard any complaints

I haven't heard much on the Robitronic yet, but it seems very similar to I-Lap and the equipment looks a little more robust and comes with lap counting software.

I-Lap has quite a bit of good feedback but you still need to get lap counting software.

Both are a heck of a lot cheaper system than AMB.

I think AMB is good but they are ripping us off. I got an AMB personal like 8 or 9 years ago for $55 new. Here we are all these years later & the exact same unit is a $100+ now. I understand inflation but I also understand the cost & savings on volume manufacturing of electronics. Those AMB personals should cost less than $20 by now. AMB needs more competition to make them lower their prices.

The AMB stuff is manufactured in Europe. The EURO is worth over 1.5 times what the dollar is. That's why they've jumped in price. There's an interesting article on the Xray site by Juraj Hudy that covers this same topic. The USD used to net around 40 Slovak Crowns and now it only nets 19!

Thanks to members of RCTech, I managed to acquire a complete AMBrc setup for less $2000.

I agree, the AMB stuff is a rip.
