on a ft b4 with a 12x2 checkpoint?

I would start with an 18T, but thats just me.

18/81 - 21/81 depending on the track you are running on

i have a 21 in it now but the motor seems to get hotter than i like

yea my motor gets hott to... so does my friends. its almost untouchable when it comes off the track

i dont think it would hurt if you are only running it in a 5 min race

The lower the teeth on the pinion the cooler the motor will run. The higher the teeth on the pinion the hotter the motor will run.

If your motor is really hot drop a couple of teeth on the pinion and you will run lower temps.

If its almost untouchable your gearing is way to high, and the excessive heat will burn out the motor prematurely.

Try an 18t pinion and go up from there.
