He has been cool. His last posts have been cool with zero bashing.

Hey getting off topic would be easy if I posted about Formula 1 then he would be here in a second. I do watch some of the racing but don't follow it closely but I do enjoy watching it.

Looks like I derailed this thread this time around.

RB Five is good people, he just like to bust balls and have a little bit of fun on the internet.

wyd, you running at the regionals this Saturday at Vineland?

I had planned all year to run the Regionals at Vineland after I seen the date. One of my best friends is getting married that day so unless it rains out at Vineland I can't make it. Hell even my buddy that is getting married wanted to go to this race.

Hey me and RB have differences of opinions but when the dust settles some it was really all in fun and I would be the first to go up and talk with him when we are at the same races in the future.

Hey Brian, I'm getting a Sidewinder 4600 system.

I was wondering of you could give me a starting point for gearing in a BJ4 at a medium sized off road track?

Thanks,

Ed

Hey Ed. The system works great. What spur do you have on your car? I know a few guys have the 6900 motor in and its super fast but gearing has been off on them. They are actually over geared.

I would start with 18 tooth or maybe a 19 tooth with around a 81 or 83 tooth spur to start and work from their.

Dumb question probably but does the mamba max have lipo cut off? This is my first dealing with BL and Lipo. I have a 7700 system on its way to me. I tried searching this and read their site but couldnt find the answer

You can set the lipo cutoff thru the Castle Link. The Mm and Sidewinder both have a setting on the Castle Link to adjust your lipo cutoff settings.

I'm looking to go w/ the 5700 motors. From what I've read the Mamba Max system is insanely fast. The sidewinder also gets rave reviews and is alot cheaper. I'm looking to run on a pretty tight curvy track and i thought the Max might be too much. Any thoughts from you electric guys would be much appreciated.
I would get the Mamba Max and the 4600 for what you described for your track.
You will be happy with it.

I just wanted to follow up on my Sidewinder 4600. It was easy to install in my 4wd byggy. Not having to find space for the 4th wire loom, the fan and the capacitor was a welcome relief.

I raced it Sunday on a hot summer day in my BJ4 and it performed very well with the 'out of the box' settings and drag brake off. I never had any issues with thermaling or motor/esc temperatures were never an issue - even without a fan. Thanks Wyd - the gearing was spot on.

The Sidewinder 4600 seems to work a lot like a Novak 7.5 motor to me. Which is plenty fast for a relatively tight (28 second lap times) off road track.

My only complaint is that sometimes the system was not very responsive to corrections while my car was in the air. Even so, I didnt wreck more often than usual. I have already started to work on the programming and I fully expect it to work as good as my Novak systems next weekend.

Bottom line: For $140 the performance of this system is nothing short of astounding. I remember paying that for one lousy GTX esc 3 years ago.

I would definately recommend it to anybody considering a Novak or LRP system but doesnt have $250 lying around.

If they could just make a 3200 motor or something that runs like a 13.5 I would switch everything I have to Castle.

Glad you like it. Make sure you update your Sidewinder to the newest software when you get a chance. Should be 1.17v if my memory is correct. If you ever need more power the 5700 motor in a 4wd car is awesome with mad rip.

You could run the Tekin Redline 632 I think is a 3200 kv motor. It is 100% sensorless setup and all the Tekin sensorless Redline series motors will work perfectly with the Castle system.

This past saturday I raced my XXX-4 G+ which is equipped with a sidewinder and a Tekin Redline 358(First time running with the Redline) It ran very well and had no hiccups at all. I used the same settings that were on my Mamba5700 thru the Castle Link.

TeamTekin that posts alot and works for Tekin has posted that the Tekin Reline Sensorless series motor work great with the Castle speedo. Nice to know.

I also seen Orion has listed in the newest RC Driver a few new sensorless motors with the 3 wires coming out and no sensore plug opening on the car so they are pure sensorless motors. More companies are starting to make them now.
