Unhappy Motor Problem.... Loose End Bell

Around 2 years ago i bought this Trinity Monster of Touring 19x2 for my Rusty w/ a XL1, but i never used it until like 2 weeks ago, never even opened it..... anyways, I threw it in my T3, and I used it for like a week, and now the endbell is loose, like it's about to fall off, and it's really.....glitchy, i guess... Whats wrong??

Oh yeah! and it sounds like its rubbing against something when i go forward, but not backward...?

There are 2 small chrome phillips head screws that go through plastic only, not the ones that go through the metal brush hoods, on the endbell that hold it to the can. Just tighten them down.

Looks like you have a sealed can motor. There's probably not much you can do to clamp the endbell back down tight, the endbell may have worn or distorted, or the tabs that hold the endbell on may have got bent. A new motor is probably the best thing.

I disagree. I think Monsters are re-buildable, at least those of the last two years.

Pull it apart. If the locking ring is bent, straighten it; make it flat. You can do this best with a vise. Check the little indentations in the can that hold the locking ring. If they're bent, or flattened, fix 'em. Finally, the end-bell should be held in by two phillips screws that go through it in between the brush hoods. Make sure you've got them both and they both thread up tight into the locking ring. Don't over-tighten those screws, or you'll bend the locking ring and this starts all over....

Now I;m not sure what's going on. Suggest you take it to your LHS & let them see it. I've never seen a motor without tabs for the locking ring to clamp on.
