Default Tamiya OLD upgrade!!!Need help!!!

Well a friend of mine has an OLD Tamiya Terra Scorcher 1/10 off road car in like new condition and wanted to upgrade it a bit...just for the fun of it.
It uses a mechanical speed controller and an RS540 Mabushi motor(the stock!!!).
We don't know much about electric cars so be nice with us!!!
What we are thinking of installing is:
-Tamiya TEU-101BK speed controller or this one
-Tamiya RZ motor
-Lipo 4000mah 15C 7.4V

Will this HOLD???

I think you would be better off with the car controller, the boat one may not have brakes.

And if it's an OLD Tamiya I think it would be way cool to keep it all Tamiya except for the battery. Just be careful if the speedo doesn't have low voltage cutoff for the lipo.

Make sure the tranny has bearings or it wont last long with a hot motor and lipo power.
