Default Novak Brushless reccommendation?

I have been eyeballing a brushless setup for racing off road in my FT T4, I have been looking at the Novak XBR sport 8.5, and 10.5, also i have been looking at the GTB pro 8.5 and 10.5. I will be running one of these motors with a 4000 lipo, what is the difference between these? are the sport and pro compareable or is one better than the other?

The pro has a stronger rotor magnet so a given wind will make better torque. The XBR speed control also has an 8.5 turn limit so you can't change to a faster motor if you want to later. The GTB 7.5 is probably the best for a T4 if you're running modified class.

I run an 8.5 with the xbr in my truck and it has plenty of motor I actually turn the EPA back to about 75% when running it to slow it down a little more. I also run a GTB in my buggy with an 8.5. I see no performance difference. So if you are not going below an 8.5 save yourself some money and go xbr.

If you're staying in the hobby..buy the GTB. You can buy them used or re-man for around $100 and they're a lot tougher than the XBR. The XBR works fine as long as you don't do anything dumb with it, like say...hypothetically reverse polarity on a 4800 , while the GTB just shrugs it off and keeps going. It's just a much beefier unit.

I'm an orion/Peak (Kokam) fan. They're super-durable. Any of them will last for 4 minutes...I'm more interested in longevity, so it's Kokam for me. I've run 20 minutes with a 4800.

u will for sure get 20 minutes from a brushless and lipo set up. just brushless/nimh lasts more than a moto easily in my experience. i run a novak gtb velociti 6.5 with a 4900 lipo.
