I am con verting a 1/8th scale CEN matrix buggy at the moment..

I already got a spetrum dx2.0... will this be O/k?

I have read a few posts where people are talking about programmimg and monitoring temps from their controller and I cant see a way of doing that with mine..

What are the advantages of havinbg something like a Nomadio or DX3.0R that have got the large LCDS?

Your radio will be fine. Also if you want to monitor temps you can get the nitro telemetry kit from spektrum.
