I actually named our shop after the original shop in Costa Mesa - The best track I ever remember going to, the awesome help from the AE guys, and the name is a perfect description of the business.

I raced mainly offroad but did race oval too.
Used to change shocks, tires and bodies to go from Oval to Offroad in the same week!
If you get to OC/RC Raceway we may race together again!

That was surely a nice place to race.
Lots of fast guys there every day/nite. Top pros from all the teams were regulars there.
Was close to where I worked so I got to go 2 to 3 times a week.

Ran Offroad a couple nites a week
and Dirt Oval a couple nites a week
It's where Brian Kinwald sharpened his teeth
also Bob Novak raced dirt oval here as well as many others with the Dominator chain driven cars. That only scratches the surface.

Anyone remember A & L rearends, trailing arm aftermarket kits? Allec & Lane.
Here's some pix

Man did I enjoy seeing those pics! Back in the 80's some of my racing cohorts took a road trip down south and raced some of those great tracks. I wasn't able to go (can't remember why...probably had to do with school). I was wildly jealous every time they'd wear their RPS and RCHR T-shirts after that...

A couple of guys up here used those A&L trailing arm conversion setups. Those and the Hot Trick setups always got attention. I saw that A&L t-shirt at the track too!

Glad you liked the pix
Just some stuff I never threw out.
The box tops to the kits are stuck to the wall in my garage.
I've got all the boxes up there, later stuff too, XX4, XXCR Kinwald Edition, XXXS ...

My folks just threw out a bunch of my old ROAR Rev-Up magazines along with some other crap of mine (including the somewhat worn but complete box from my RPS Yokomo SE!!!). It'd been taking up space and collecting dust in dad's workshop. They didn't know that I was 'back' into RC cars again (other than running my daughter's Stampede around the yard). I wish I still had that box for my garage...

I still have that Yokomo, and am finding more spares and such every time I go through old boxes at my folk's house. The Yokomo's sitting on my mantle now, flanked by the old matching Futaba Magnum transmitter, and a couple of 20+ year old club racing first place trophies. The buggy still has mud on it from it's last winning race (in 1987)!!!

Ecc,
This may or may not make you feel better.

Never stuck it to the wall.

Wow, it's tomorrow already. I wish I could go, I'm on the otherside of the country.

Any plans for Kyosho to re-release some "old skool" buggies?

Great Googley-Moogley!!!

That brings back some memories...Christmas 1986 IIRC.

The box I had didn't look that nice for long, as I used to use it to carry parts and stuff to the track. There's a small chance that my SE box didn't go into the can afterall. Gotta check back at my folks place...

Hope a Tamiya HotShot or Super Champ make the A-Main at the end.... but something tells me Gold/Black Tub &/Or Graphite RC10s will dominate!

I dont think a super champ will win it
These were so inefficient, when I used to race one I had to modify everything except the heavy gear case
I had nylon arms and fiberglass chassis from CRP, futaba ESC, kyosho 1/8 shocks, custom made roll bar and rear tires with steel rivets glued to it, dirtburner diffs, checkpoint (1/12 or oval) motors
and then AE and Losi comes out with the rc10 and the jrx2 that was it for the tamiya super champ, it could not compete
