Brushless Noob!!...

I have just bought An LRP Sphere ESC and X11 4.0 motor...

I am putting this combo into my CEN 1/8th (ex--nitro) Buggy.

I went into my LHS and this is what he recommened..

I am wondering if this will be powerfull enough, I am a basher and I would like it to be faster(if possible) than my nitro, but keeping in this price bracket.
My LHS Has access to Novak and LRP.
I havent picked it up yet so I could probably change the combo if needed.

Thanks

Leigh

STOP!
Your LHS guy is just trying to sell something. That system will not work (for long) in your 1/8 scale. What is your budget?

leigh18 04-24-2008 03:51 AM

My Budget is about this price..

$400 - $500 AU Which is probably about $380 - $480 US

strodedawg 04-24-2008 03:52 AM

yeah that system will burn up quickly. go to www.rc-monster.com and buy a a mamba maxx, a CC BEC, a 4s lipo and a wanderer 9xl. inexpensive and good setup without breaking the bank.

I cant because I have already put a deposit on it..

He has access to LRP and Novak

Thanks

You could see if he has a Novak HV-Maxx 6.5. That will work in a 1/8 buggy. It's not the ultimate setup, but with proper gearing it works pretty good. Otherwise, I'm afraid you just wasted your money.

strodedawg 04-24-2008 03:57 AM

thn get a novak HV system 6.5 (w/ fan) with a 4s lipo (need novak 4s lipo cutoff) and that should work fine. just be careful with the gearing start with maybe a 11-12 tooth pinion. we run this set-up in a kyosho and it runs fine, although warm at times

leigh18 04-24-2008 04:01 AM

That does suck..

So what are the LRP setups good for?

strodedawg 04-24-2008 04:02 AM

1/10th touring for the 4.0 mostly

happywing 04-24-2008 04:03 AM

Great for 1/10 scale.

leigh18 04-24-2008 04:11 AM

thanks alot for your replies..

What is the difference between 6.5 and 5.5

strodedawg 04-24-2008 04:19 AM

6.5 is "slower" and gives slightly more run time, but still suitable for 1/10th

I have been unable to find decent 1/8 brushless stuff in Aus. You are much better off buying online.
Do you have a 1/10 car you can put the sphere and x11 into?
If not I'd talk to your LHS and explain it is unsuitable and try to get your deposit back. If they won't refund you, you may be better off forgetting about it and buying the right stuff anyway.

The MM + BEC + 9XL should only run to about $200US + postage so for your budget you should be able to get a decent 4S lipo too.

No I dont have a 1/10 to put it in:(:

I am waiting for an e-mail to see if he will change it to Novak HV Combo..
