Losi xxx-4
#2253

hey dudes, ive got some setups out of this thread from some very helpful people and i also found steenaris setup for the car that he came up with, its on the losi boards website, i'll probably run it without the one-way but my question is the pistons he has showing on the front is 667 and rear is 442, im assuming its some kind of drilled piston but anyone know what it means, ive put the website just in case and theres only on steenari setup for the xxx4
thanks

I've got a Q. Is the graphite chassis the only chassis you can get for the XXX-4? I am picking up an old one today, and it has a broken chassis. Just want t make sure there isn't a plastic one before I go and spend what is over $100NZ

Pheeew Finally got a roller almost set-up after taking apart 2 complete xxx-4 and making one nice roller and making a bin of extra parts. Now I have a few questions hope yo guys can answer.
The manual shows the rear shocks mounted behind the rear shock tower. My buddy just picked up a a xxx-4 that was owned by a guy who worked at a hobby shop and was really detail oriented. When putting my roller together I was using his xx-4 as a base. I noticed his shocks were mounted on the front side of the shock tower. In order to do this you needed to add a little extra spacer onto the uper shock mount. Well I set it up like so but am just not sure if this is a good setup. When doing this I also moved the 2 little shims on the hub carrier to the front just like his xxx-4 im assuming this is for a little more chassis length.
The other question I have is on the steering. I notice you have to options when mounting the steering post. Closest to the nose or one notch back. Which is a better set-up?
Thanks

The original XXX-4 had plastic shock towers and you would run the rear shocks on the front side... they then made "graphite" upgrade towers molded exactly like the plastic versions. Finally with the G+ set-up they made a cut carbon fiber (graphite) shock tower (both front and rear). With these you run the rear shocks to the back.

Thanks. Got the shock situation all figured out. Do ou guys run any limiters in the front shocks? at full droop my steering knuckles hit the lower arm when turned?
Also I just wired it up and had the wheels free spinning. I was giving it some gas then would hit the brakes to test out my connections did this twice and the belt snapped? WTF does this happen alot could my belt have just been old? It makes a wicked snap when you hit the brake

I have a belt on my older xxx-4 that is green. I was pretty sure the new HD belt's were black, or yellow. I was suprised it actually snapped!!

Now about the front shocks are you supposed to run some limiters inside them?
