I mention this from my own careless experience. Make sure you don't leave out in small parts.

yup the xxx-4 still works at ocrc, still chasing the set-up a bit but qualifed 8th in the A-main (15 4wd total) and finished 4th, not bad for my second time there coming off of a 5 year break. Got my xxx-4G+ working pretty good and xxx-4's have won there numerous times.

Try tapeing your battery to your battery bar to stop it falling out

I run the 10 degree kick up in front. Run 3 degrees of anit-squat in the rear.
For shocks I run 30 weight all round with 0.0060 limited in front none in the rear. Run a 94 spur and ur belt will be a little on the tight side. I run my slipper on tight as I can get it, but will still slip a bit. CVD's up front with universals in the rear. You can double up the front and rear shock towers for strength. Now on the steering linkage run your ballstud in the dead center of the link, not on the outside. Hope this helps this is my 0.2 cents.

If you double up your shock tower on the front you risk breakin the chassis like I just did.
I wish it was just a broken shock tower. Now I can't get a new plastic chassis which is prefered. Only chassis available is graphite now. 40+ $
Also look back a few pages in this thread for setup info, Dyno Dan is a Losi guy that hauls the mail with his and he is close to the kit recommended set up, look for it.

im running the 1.0" shafts in the rear, the dogbones barely stay in the outdrives but i think it lands off of jumps alot better. Im running the 5F front aluminum block and the -1 pro squat block in the rear. No limiters under the pistonsin the rear and .090" in the front, 32.5 weight oil, stock springs and pistons, diff in the front, ackerman setting in the front, .060" spacers under the front outer camber link, no rear sway bar, camber links in the stock position, heavy duty belt tensioner and pulley, it helps the drag by repositioning the idler pulley, i like the natural color rod ends by losi, not sure if they help at all. im running the steel MIP cvd's all around, composite outdrives with the Bfast rc pro diff kits front and rear. Graphite chasis and arms. if i missed something just ask. This set-up was run at ocrc last sunday, i finished 4th in the A main behind 3 people that work there that probablly had 10x the amount of track time that i did. The car liked to be dived really hard into the corners to get alot of traction, im sure 30w oil all around would have felt better. i was using holeshot LP's all arounf with stock foam cut. OCRC is a smooth indoor clay track but im confident that it will work good everywhere.
I just picked up a brand new G+ kit that im putting togeather that im going to run the box set-up and see how it does.

i forgot to mention that the car had tons of traction but pushed a little bit on power but that could prob. be fixed by eliminating the .060" spacers under the front outer ball stud.
If you do double up the front and rear towers i would use larger hardware like 3mm or 5-40, im using 3mm on the upper mounts of my shock towers with no spacer between the front arm and lower shock rod-end.

sorry about the typo, the shock shafts in the rear that im using are actually the 1.0" shafts not the 1.2" and the kit set-up has .090" of droop spacer in the front shocks which i am using. ill edit the above reply

Greetings everyone!
I am in search of a complete set of STEEL cvd's for the xxx4. I haven't had any success so far with my usual online sources. All I have found is the aluminum versions. Any and all help is appreciated.
