I have a XX-4 that I'll probably finish this season and then run an outdoor season with it. After that I'll probably go XXX-4 or X-5 But all the Losi 4wdr platforms are great IMO

Questions?? Leaking shocks

Just got a new XXX-4 G+ kit that I'm building up.

Having problems with the shocks leaking between the cartridge and the shock body
I've tightened the cartridge as much as possible (as suggested in the manual) but it still leaks every time I push the shock shaft up and down.

Wondering if other people have had a similar problem and if there is an easy solution to get a good seal?

Are the inner shock threads likely to strip from overtightening?

I've built shocks in other R/C kits with no problems. They've either had an o-ring seal or cap around the cartridge to stop leaks but the G+ shocks seem to rely on the plastic cap sealing against the aluminum shock body.

Fill the cartridge with oil up to the threads, then put the piston/bottom/shaft/stuff (with the shaft extended) in and screw down finger tight then back like 1/4 turn. Then hold the whole thing with a towel and push the shaft in to bleed the shock. While the shaft is still down, tighten as you have been and there should be no problem.
If you tighten the shock without bleeding it can come out around the threads under compression.

I want to take my xxx4 g+ out of retirement, I was wondering if anyone has the list of parts that Truhe ran at the worlds for the steering modification? I believe it requires dremeling a portion of the tunnel in the front rack area and uses CR parts? Anyone have part numbers of exactly what is needed? I always liked my xxx4, but the steering lock is a joke---its like taking a standard car and cutting the dual rate down to 50%!!!!

Maybe a losi team driver can chime in, but I thought the reason guys are driving the XXX4 again was because Losi wanted them to. I know at my track all the sponsored Losi guys who have been running the xx4 have all switched to the XXX4 --as I understood it most of them didn't want to switch but Losi wanted them to. It makes sense because why would they(Losi) want to be represented by a car the public can't even buy new anymore?

I am sure some of the guys like driving the xxx4--but it all comes down to politics.

A XXX4 won and TQ'd the mod A-main at my track this past Sunday. Its definatley still can hang, I feel its quite bit easier to drive than the BJ4 we.

That would be sick, they need a new 4wd, but who knows its probably just a rumor.

hey all:Yes an updated or new 1/10th 4wd buggy from losi is long over do. If a new one isn't coming any time soon then let team drivers use what they want. Looks like losi is focusing on the hugely popular 1/8th nitro offroad and rtr/basher markets right now. Just my thoughts thanks

it is still a very fast, responsive car. it is a little brittle but you can make certain mods that will help. i personally run a novak gtb w/ 5.5 and trakpower 4900mAh lipo. it will blow the doors off of the 1/8th scale nitros at my track on the straight away. i run a 92 and a 17 but i am thinking of possibly dropping down to a 16 and feel it out. anyone running a 5.5 with a 16?

I am setting up my old xxx4 g+ tonite and am going to use a 6.5 LRP sintered with 16/92. With a 5.5 I would even try a 15/92.

@ Dawg. +1 on the gold bars. Simply amazing in 4wd I have ran pinions from 15(where I am now) up to 19. Obviously I think it all depends on track conditions but a 16 or 17 is probably going to be the best choises. I run 15 just to keep my car in 1 piece Still competitive, and like you said runs past 1/8 nitros on straights. 16 should be a good choice though.
