Default RC10T4 with 10.5 brushless

What size pinion do I need to use with a 10.5 brushless motor? Is it the same as a 19t?

thanks,

Mike

I run a 22t with mine. Not sure what a 19t calls for though.

Last race I ran in 10.5 class I ran my Novak 10.5 with an 81 tooth spur gear and a 24 tooth pinion gear. Had plenty of power and did not get hot. This was on my T4 truck. Next run I may go up to a 25 tooth pinion and see what it does.

I was initially down around a 21 tooth pinion and it felt like a slug. On a recommendation of a fellow racer I went up in gear. It made the truck come alive both on the top end and bottom end.

The lower turn brushless motors seem to run a lot better if you gear them to the moon. Just keep an eye on the temps.

I'm switching from a 19 turn motor to the novak 10.5 brushless. Right now I have the stock 87 tooth spur gear and a 19 tooth pinion. I'm just looking for a starting point for the brushless. I will be racing for the only the second time on Thursday.

Try a 24 tooth, it will be tight but it should fit. 10.5's like lots of gear...

The novak 13.5 and 10.5 do like a lot of gear. I would recommend something in the 24/25 78 or 81 area to start with. The Novak motors have a ton of torque and with the sintered rotor they can take the heat. My 13.5 has an issue with the braking causing it go get pretty warm. On average it gets 110 to 130 after a run and it hasent lost any performance.

I run 24/81 with my Trinity 10.5.....Dialed I've tried 25 didn't notice much difference on track but my motor was quite a bit hotter. This is going to vary track to track though. I run at Leisure Hours a very large high bite track.
