Why don't nitro cars (and nitro chassis electric cars) use a top deck for extra strength?

Most 1/8 buggies and truggies do have some support instead of a top deck, such as the torque rods running from the steering deck and the rear diff.

As for why they don't I would guess that with the strength of their chassis they don't need one + too stiff a chassis can hurt the handling of a 1/8, most noticably on loose dirt tracks.

A bathtub composite would never last in 1/8 scale applications. The only alternative would be carbon fiber or kevlar, but for the price difference, it is just cost effective to use an aluminum plate. Besides, there are minimum weight requirements in sanctioned events...

and they are done! should start arriving in a week or 2. Some will come by plane, some will come by boat....Probably a good idea to get on the list at caster or confirm you are still interested. Cam is supposed to e-mail or call everyone on the list.....but double check just to be safe.

It's going to be nice seeing a bunch of those running around the track at the same time.

One of the magazines will have one next week. SHhhhh....

"off the record comments:"
But for everyone else, it looks like a couple more weeks before we have anything to ship. The first run on cars is built and waiting for a couple packaging things before the factory will let them go.

I know it's been delayed much longer than we anticipated... and some of you may be frustrated with the wait, as are we.... and for this reason we are adopting a policy in the future of not releasing info on new products, until we have them stateside and ready to ship to customers. Then it's black and white and there is no waiting!!!!!

I'm not the official Caster USA rep, but I think they won't care that I post this for them.

btw, I ran my prototype car today... and it performed very well. Not a lot of details or data to report, but I will see if I got any good pics or video to post.

I was running in 3rd/4th about 10 minutes into the main... and ultimately pulled off the track after a couple brief shut-offs of the MM or spektrum RX. Not sure exactly what was happening... MM tempted at 190 which is high, but it's run that, and higher many times before without thermalling. I had no fans on it... haven't needed them for a while.

I did have a heavier car than normal... running a 8000mah 4s setup. So maybe that was reason for the higher temps. Might be time for the MonsterV2.

Thanks... it will be cool. I know a lot of guys who seem interested in jumping onto the bandwagon with this car. I hope it helps the E 1/8 scene to really take off.

Just today, a couple nitro racers commented on the price of fuel.... and how the whole electric idea sounded good. That, and then there's the guys who had "nitro" trouble all day...

Your cars look beautiful, but I think someone missed a decimal place somewhere. Your brushless ESC is $10,000.00??? Holy crap, you're gonna drive people towards their $250 Novak/LRP/Castle ESCs...
