Default Monster Mamba Max Sneak Preview

Castle posted pics on rc-monster of the fabled MMM esc. Castle's CEO Patrick indicated on the board that they are a few weeks out...

Is that the death bell tolling I hear for nitro?

Patrick posted on rcgroups too...

"Good news! We got the first press off the mold, and have accepted the final mold assembly.

Now we need a couple weeks to get production scheduled in, and we should be good to go."

Glad to see the cases are finally sorted, affordable 6S madness is so close now. (Pre-release estimated pricing is ~170 for the ESC and ~300 for the combos - again from Patrick on rcgroups).

Sweetness. Now I really need an electric 1/8th scale. The regular Mamba Max holds up well with fans, but this is a much more elegant solution.

I wonder if we could use a few of them and make an electric 1/1 scale car?

If the Mamba Max holds up wait til the new one is available. Can't imagine too many other 1/10 speedos do that.

I am excited. The ESCs have been the weak point of all these conversions as none have been very reliable with heat or other problems. I think the release of the MMM will help push 1/8 electric mainstream in a big way as Castle is a recognizable brand. The regular Mamba works very well, so I am sure this one designed for larger motors and batteries should be up to task.

Now if we can get the cost of lipo batteries to come down a little faster...

Tekin is also planning to offer a 1/8 BL controller and motors very soon. We just finished the pcb layouts and are headed to proto boards. We might slip out a concept drawing pretty soon. All the same great features as our 1/10 controller including a sensor plug and switchng BEC. We did go with a top heat sink and fan for extreme power ability.

We have already had success with our R1pro in 1/8 scale also. We have raced it competively with no fan in buggy and truggy with 4s lipo. Just shows how over beefed that controller really is. Not recomended, but you guys rarely pay attention to that anyway. With the kind of mods you are doing to the MM by adding fans it handles it easily......

Patrick del Castillo - Owner of Castle Creations, "Good news! We got the first press off the mold, and have accepted the final mold assembly. Now we need a couple weeks to get production scheduled in, and we should be good to go.

Retail price is set (and don't hold me to this -- this is pre-release estimated price!!!) at $199.95 for the ESC, and $329.95 for the combo.
This would mean street price around $170 for the ESC only."

Your local hobbyshop can backorder these for you. All the standard distributors that carry Castle Creations will carry these as well.

Like everyone else, I don't like waiting - but in a way I'm glad CC are taking their time to get everything sorted. It would disappoint a lot more people if they released something that didn't live up to expectations.

I'm not sure if the part number is public knowledge yet, but tower hobbies are usually quick on the listing of new parts. It would be a safe bet they'll list it as soon as possible.

I believe it is a CCBEC incorporated internally. If true, this means output is selectable from 4.8 - 9 volts via castle link.

PREZ - Glad to see your company getting in on the ground floor of 1/8 electric, so to speak. I look forward to hearing more about the tekin hardware and how the specs stack up against the MMM.

man i cannot wait till this is released. how is it supposed to do with a 6pole motor? i run a mega ACn motor and its 6 poles, so i want something that i know can take it. the mamba max handled it fine... but the punch had to be set to 50 and everything was set kinda funky...
