sweet! /me lubs rally cars haha

Im in the process of experimenting with 2 old GV nitros i have. er, GV cars ...
GV nitro

They run well on the road, but no track local to me, persuaded me to convert one to rally

I have 36mm wheels and tyres all round, 4wd, single speed, with basic lifting off the suspension, no idea of the actual degrees of camber/caster, but am still to measure and set them.

Im taking the car out today to run, should go well, as grass testing yesterday went great .

They all have .12 motors in them, but these work fine in my opinion. Tuned headers to come on both still, but the cars run shit hot!

Will post some pics as soon as films developed, and have them scanned in. No digi still

Id love to see other ppls attempts at a rally mod, or even rtr rally version.

I am still waiting for my TB-O1 but it should be here soon. I was thinking the other day how to change my Micro into a Rally car...It would be hard, but I think that it could be done. Send those pics, I would like to see that. Any one else have a TB-O1 Rally? I had a SNR which was the best car that I ever had.

tamiya rally cars are the biggest pieces of crap because they break so easy. i sold my car three days after i bought it.

buy a real rally car like a team losi rally weapon or a rs4 rally, i own both of them and i can't break them.

buy one of them u wont be sorry.

dont worry, i got a tb01 and i havent been able to break it... I run it at our local track...150X150 foot track with big jumps. I've done so many car wheels, slams...everything... nothing has bent or broken. I use the HPI racing beetle body... EVERYONE loves to see a beetle running around with the big trucks and buggies.
It can take a beating just playing around, but dont go running full speed into a pole to see if it can handle it.

I have been betting my TB-O1 like crazy and the car is great so far. I am new at off road and I am wondering what is the best tires and inserts to use. Right now my car has no inserts in the tires. Also what springs?

I second that, and I own one!

Vi6, what kind of mods/hopups do you recommend for the Landmax 2? I'd like to stick to bare essentials, since I don't want this thing to cost a fortune(putting some money into it is cool, but I'd like to keep most of my spendings to my racers). Your car looks so cool with the Suby body and those rims! What did you do to get those rims to work with the LM2 mounts, and what rims are they?

Wow lots of interest! Thanks everyone!

THe landmax 2 is based on the MP 7.5 buggy soo there are lots of hop ups available. I've had the car for almost 2 years now. Mods from stock..

*4 Front shocks from a monster pirate
*Aluminum radio tray posts
*currently running a ported XTM .247 with a big ol' Nova RC cooling head
*18t clutchebll and MIP MP7.5 2 shoe clutch
* gutted old style CVEC pipe
* Monster pirate header
* steel ring and pinions front and rear
* de-annod everything that was gold and polished to silver
* JT racing MP 7.5 chassis
* kanai front brace
* ofna 19mm to 17mm hub adapters (Ofna part #86000)
* Medial Pro Tarmac II wheels and tires (45 shore)
* Front and rear sway bars

I left it stock for several months then droped an ofna 4 port hyper .21 in and picked up the front MP shocks used for $35. I ran the snot out of it for quite a while using different engines, wheels and tires. The stock diffs it comes with are the cast gears and will wear out but if they are shimmed right they will last for quite a while. I now have the steel ring and pinions as after almost 2 years the cast ones wore out. I also recently bought the JT racing MP 7.5 chassis and love it! its stiffer and holds up in a crash a lot better than the stock weakling chassis. The only other thing I want to get are front universals.

Its easy to change from off road to on road. I run the tarmac II's on the tarmac (lol.. duh) and run the soft compound kyosho rally tires for off road. I just raise up the suspension and remove the sway bars. Then put the off road tires on and go. because of its size too it can handle cut grass and really rough stuff surprizingly well. It also has side skirts but I usually don't run them as they seem to trap more dirt then keep dirt out. It easily out performs my old SNR on every aspect. My LM2 is my #1 favorite RC and has been the most reliable and most fun RC I've ever had too.

really the only downfall of the Landmax 2 is they expensive.. body's are $65-80 usd and the hop ups can get spendy but it can go places that no other rally can and doesn't need all kinds of hop ups to be tough and reliable.

I also run it in all conditions..lol!
