Mamba Max system is cheap and easy. Not blisstering, but I have fun with mine.

yup, mod 1 and get the hardened ones if you decide to keep the steel stock spur gear

one of the nice things about those L can motors, they can be had with the 5mm shaft (most mod1 pinions will have 5mm bore) if you use a smaller regular motor with the regular 1/8" shaft you'll have a harder time finding pinions and have to use a bore adapter to get the 5mm pinions to work.

price is about the same as the mamba motors too, and it's got more torque

many have had success with both setups though

one I would skip (because I tried it) the ammo $34 motor from tower 3300kv I cooked that one up real quick

I did an RC Monster conversion. It's geared with a 13T hardened pinion to accommodate a smaller track. Unfortunately, I haven't had it out there to race yet. Here's a short video of the build and a test run at a local ball field.

I have an e-crt.5 that I've done a lot of work to. I run a Novak GTB/6.5 on 2S setup and it is very good on the indoor track and surprisingly runs quite cool, but I haven't been out in the summer heat yet. A lot of guys are running the mamba max and an L can feigao motor. IMO the e-crt.5 is best if you can keep it lighter. If you want to go MM then I'd go with an S can feigao and a smaller 2S or 3S batt.

the neu 1509 motor is probably the best, but it's pricy

I got told that the Mambas motors are to fast for this and will overheat easy as you can't get the proper gearing for it. What motors do most people run?

I just threw a 4800 kv motor from

http://www.medusaproducts.com/motors/036-V2.htm

into my .5

geared 14t on the stock spur gear

it friggin flys more than the 9L on 3s

seems to be a higher quality motor

not yet, but I haven't run the thing for a full pack, just some quick shake down runs to make sure it's working properly

I may take it to the track next weekend

that medusa motor is supposed to have similar performance to the neu, but it's not quite as efficient, so it will be hotter than the nue
