My new T4 FT kit arrived today along with my Mamba 5700. Waiting on my LiPos.

I'm still hung up between a React or a DX3R.

But, right now I need to buy a steering servo. Recommendations?

The JR Z9100S looks good:

Torque: 150 oz/in @ 4.8V, 180 oz/in @ 6V
Speed: .08 sec / 60 degrees @ 4.8V, .06 sec / 60 degrees @ 6V

That servo is what i was to suggest, If you wanna save alil more money get the jr9000s off amain for 94.99 and if it ever breaks send it to jr and they will replace it with a 9100s i hear. although i have never had a problem with my 9000s' and 8800s'. truly great servos. Lightning quick.

I used to run JR servos in my Revos and I never had an issue with them but I was reassured by their warranty. I think I'll go ahead and get the 9100S

You really dont need 180oz of torque in a t4. I'd say save some money and just get the 900s like reccomended.

There are a lot of things in this hobby we dont NEED.

Anyway, what would a good torque rating be for a S/T? (I'm a M/T guy and 180oz of torque sounds about right there).

I just built my FT T4 with mamba 5700, for a servo I went with the Associated 1313 digital. I knew the servo is exposed and these 1313 cases are awesome to look at and dont break the piggy bank. It was something like $70 at ultimate hobbies!

In my opinion 100oz. of torque is more than enough for a 1/10 truck. As for the associated/ace hobby/thunder tiger servos They are incredible servos and sell for very good prices as stated above.

I have a 8800S Jr in mine and it works fine. Its .08 and 105 oz of torque. Not a ton of torque but it is digital so it helps.

another good servo you could try is a Hitec625MG it has 91oz.When I was in RC 10 years ago there where not many servo's with much more than 60oz and the one's that were where way over priced,so most guys would run a would run a Hitec standard servo with 40oz and never had problems with steering and the ascociated trcks were alot heavier back then.

well, that servo has torque but the 625mg is slowwww.


As the thread starter stated he is a monster truck guy, Go for the 9100s and if you part ways with the t4 you still ahve a bad ass servo. Get a 9000s though they really are great and i felt the difference between this and the 8800s in my t4. They dont even make 8800s' anymore.
