B44 or XXX-4 G+

B44 or XXX-4 G+
Looking to buy a 4 wheel drive buggy and wanted some opinions between the associated and the losi. Ive owned both associated and losi trucks. Now i currently have all losi cars but i have heard good things about the B44. Any help would be appreciated. Also want to get a brushless system for whatever buggy i buy, was looking at one of the novaks but dont really know what size motor, any recomendations.

i personally run a xxx4g+ but to be honest, it is a very fragile car. from what i have seen, the b44 is a little less fragile and does not break as easily but i do love the xxx4. i have a gtb 2.4 with a 5.5L motor. it is extremely fast and handles very well. try to find a good deal because both of these are sold very frequently on here. good luck and hope this helps.

I had a xxx-4 ,while it worked good on an indoor smooth track,it just seemed to break to easily for me.I broke CVD's,and front spindle carries without crashing.
I liked the car but my new B44 is WAY more durable.
I cant get to the track enough lately to drive this thing,it is that fun . I am running a LRP Shere 07 w/ Orion 10.5(7.5 is in the tool box) in it right now,our indoor is pretty tight and is plenty of motor for me right now.

i have to agree, it does break easily but its like a challenge for me. i wish they made the carriers and spindles stronger, that is my main complaint.

I have been running a BJ4 WE (very similar to b44) for a little while and I really like it, but I did run a xxx4 g+ prior to the BJ (I haven't driven the XXX4 in a while but I don't plan to sell it any time soon). The BJ4 is great but so is the xxx4. I don't think it gets as much respect as it deserves. That car (xxx4) has awesome engineering and is a very planted ride. Provided you beef it up in the right places its not as fragile as is commonly thought.
The single belt drivetrain (once you get the optional upgrade tensioner) puts the most power down of any car I have ever driven--shaft or belt. Has the most efficient drivetrain of any electric 4wd off road car IMO.
The only real issue with the XXX4 is its VERY limited steering lock in stock form. There are mods you can do however to get more lock, nevertheless with the stock steering rack I had to run a one way at my track to get any type of turn in. My BJ4 has more steering with a front diff than the xxx4 did with a one way.

well, that is still a weak spot. If I am not mistaken, XFactory offers a kit that eliminates the shoulder screws that hold the front castor blocks onto the arm--it converts it to more robust screws.http://www.xfactoryrc.com/news_09_27_06.htm

Now I don't know if the alloy blocks are still available but XFactory still carries parts for the hinge pin conversion. These 2 mods will make a heck of a difference in durability of the front end.

I am pretty sure that the JConcepts caster's fit correctly, or with very little mod. Also I personally have access to a "model builder" which is a machine that molds out plastic parts that have been designed on cad. I had designed my own carrier blocks out of ABS plastic and have not had a problem.
Note*I keep these as a backup for the stock parts*
I have found that with enough practice I've stoped breaking blocks all togeather.
