Default stress cracks in wheel's paint

these wheels are BRAND NEW. they have been drove for about 1/2 hour at 1/2 throttle max due to break in. already the paint is fully stress cracked and looks like I drove a rally in them. is this right?? they are the HPI 2.2" 5 spoke wheels. I am going to write to them with my concerns also. opinions would be nice.

EDIT: remote linking didn't work pictures in following posts

the front/outside of the wheels, the stressed, crakced, and peeling parts are the ones that look rippled and not flat n'shiny

Although I cant see them because they are broken links, I am guessing they are off road wheels. You really dont want painted wheels on anything that is going to get driven in the dirt, because the paint is going to chip and crack like you are experiencing. The wheels are propably made of a soft nylon that bends a little bit when you give the car throttle, if the paint doesnt bend like the nylon, it will chip off or crack. Stay with white wheels, and dye them if you want a different color.

rear/inside of wheels: there is barely any paint on the sides you can see, not there are stress cracks and peeling spots on the insides but that is much harder to photograph and I might make another attempt to capture those tomorrow

thanks for the reply, I will write to HPI today with my problem. also if I get a new set of rims the tires are already on there. and by the amount of glue I used they AREN'T comming off.

BTW they looked really good when they were spinning since it was their first time out, and from a distance you cant tell, but up close they look like crap

I dont understand why you'd want the same wheel if it is just going to have the problem again. Pick up some white or yellow wheels, they dont look as flashy, but they wont chip and crack after a couple runs either.

called HPI and they said they would replace the wheels and the tires with their on road tires. I would NOT get these exact wheels again, maybe the same ones dyed or white but i'm not sure yet.
