I'm building an 18th scale track in my yard, what kinds of dirt would be suitable for a good surface, the magazines have said BMX mix, what is this and can I buy it where you get sand or what??

Dirt with a high clay content will be good. You can find it at your local landscaping and top soil contractor. Link for you local below. You want a soil that will pack.
