Default Best Lipo Charger and Why

We have joined the Lipo bandwagon and want to hear syggestions ofr what chargers people are using.
We are using a borrowed Astro Flight Lithium charger. It does a great job and I like the way it peaks. I does not charge to 90% and then back off untill the battery peaks like other chargers. It registers the batteries voltage at 8.40 volts and then backs down untill the voltage goes down and keeps hitting it that way,,, untill of course the peak. The sad part is I hear this charger is not available any more all though I can find it on the net.
With that said I need some feedback on other chargers for Lipo that are available along with features you guy's like. Thanks a lot!!

You could guess by my signature what I'm going to say, but I wouldn't openly endorse a product that I don't believe in. The Orion advantage charger has all of the features you could possibly want, including a very useful battery holder.
I didn't realize how handy that little piece of plastic would be. Based on what is being said about lipo's in the onroad forum we will all soon be warming our lipos as we charge them (let the battery voodoo begin), so the included temp probe may become very useful in the near future. And IMO it is the best looking charger out there.

I had this charger and hated it, the menus are terrible to navigate through, I use 2 pulsar 3's now but if your only gonna be charging lipos get a hyperion eos, they have built in balancer and charge all sorts a batterys. they just dont dis. higher then 1 amp. I still use nimh time to time and used to have brushed motors thats why i chose the pulsar 3. that and its easier to use.

+1 for the Hyperion chargers.

I've also been in discussions about balancing the lipos we use and info i got was using only 2 cell lipo packs balancing isn't necessary. But it is for 3 cells and up.
Now this is just info i was told.

I just started running lipos in cars but have been flying with them for years.

I use a Astro Flight 109. It is one of the easiest chargers to use, Just plug in a battery set the amps and wait till it's done, it will charge up to 9 cells at 8 amps. It has never failed me.

It also has one other feature that I have not found in any other lipo charger. Instead of lowering the amps after it reaches 3.7 Volts per cell it cuts the amps off as the cell reaches 3.7 and back on when it goes under 3.7v untill the pack will hold 3.7V per cell.

I have heard that this helps increase the "Punch" of the packs.

As for other chargers, I have seen many have great results with the Ice/Triton line of chargers and have heard great things about the Hyperion line of chargers.

I have been thinking of trying this one http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/s...idProduct=6408
It is supposed to be a Hyperion just with different colors and decals?

Good comments so far but,, these chargers you guy's have mentioned.. Do they charge to 90% and then back off or do they do it like the Astro Flight charger does?

Man I wish Bmaglinger would log on and give me some good information I can use JK

I have only used the FMA Direct charger. It charges to 90% then it balances from 90-100% It has nice features and really like it a lot.

I have heard a lot of great things about the ICE & Checkpoint chargers... they decently priced so you may want to take a look at them as well!

uhh.... Thunder Power 1010C is by far the best charger out there.

10 cells, 10 amps, Build in Balancer lead, stays cool, silent.

It seems to keep my packs nice & happy. Perhaps their just not happy that mrc offers such a great ac//dc charger package for so little.
