like motor/size

application type (top speed/reliabe fast/basher/??)

as many details as you could put in would be really helpful.

ok mate, well firstly im asking a generalised question. i dont know any desired speed but atm but car pulls about 50km/h flat out on bitumen. its a 1/10 so its about 400mm long. its completely stosk and am about to order a new ESC. please help with gaining more speed via gear ratios.

If you want more top speed you will want to go to a higher pinion gear (the small gear that is attached to the motor) With a bigger pinion you will have more top speed but slower acceleration. If you go with a smaller spur (the big gear) you can also get more top speed, but I would recommend getting a larger pinion gear.
