Those plates look really nice. Well worth the $15. Heck it costs $5 to buy a plastic A-arm that was 10 cents to make somewhere in Tiawan, so $15 for a hand made stainless plate is cheap.

I run 4800 lipos and don't need much weight. I use those thin steel plates used to join 2x4s on house framing. They cost about $1 each, are the same width as a battery, and just about the same length. You can layer them up if you need more weight. I just tape one down under the battery. They have them at any lumber store like home depot or lowes.

Hey, who are you at Go-Ride? I used to race Elite DH (now an old man in Vet Ex: www.johnnyboy.ca). Even bought some stuff off you guys in the past.

Thats the one thing I'm not sure of about these plates, are they too heavy for my car? I use Trakpower 4900's, so with the weight of these plates which is 4.5oz I think, plus a 4900mAh lipo that seems like it would be more than 6 sub-c's? I really need to invest in a digi scale! And another thing I forgot to add the other day about the ones whining about the cost of the plates, its probably costing $2 dollars or more in shipping alone. I would be surprised if theres more than $6 or $7 dollars profit in these things. Clearly he's not doing it to get rich.

You should still be fine. When I originally made them it was to offset an Orion 4800 LiPo versus an IB4200 pack. I left a little wiggle room as the 4200's are pretty heavy to begin with. Here as the pics:

I use the Trakpower 4900 pack. I weighed it and it was 10.1oz. Then I weighed a 4200 6 cell I have and it wa 14.5oz.

So now if I add the lipo plate at 4.5oz and my 10.1oz Trakpower lipo pack I'm at 14.6oz and right on the money. Now I would basically be even to what the NIMH setups would weigh plus I still see guys adding like 1/2oz to the front of the cars and sometimes 1/2oz to the rears.

I think me being as light as i have been has really hurt my cars handling on bumpy tracks with low bite. Now when I raced indoors on slicks I had so much traction it wasn't a real problem. The weight I think still would of helped me in the choppy sections of the track and when we would race treaed tire races at the indoor track.

Looks perfect then! A lot people trying to run lipos and light cars dont realize how much how running the cars so light makes them very skwerly. In my Type-R I had the Losi steel lipo tray and a 2oz. sheet of Lipo Lead and I still think it was too light. Before I added the Lipo Lead I think because of it being so light it just couldn't hook up and get traction. No downward pressure on the tires I assume?

I'm sure I will see some improvement in my car. I can race next weekend so I will find out. Even if it is not a ton better thats fine because at least I know its not because of my car being too light.

Hey John,

Save a couple for me for the weekend.

Trade you even for a couple of sets of ceramic diff balls. (My secret to making millions, LOL!)

Also if you have an extra RB5 Airtronics servo arm I could use that as well.

Thanks,

Narly1

P.S. The track is looking better than it has for some time!
