I've broken one of these too. It seems that if you put the car into a position to land on one of the rear wheels it's the give point in the design. I got tangled with another car on a triple and came down on the left rear wheel and it snapped off right at the ball stud. It didn't even seem like that hard of a crash.

Worst part is the part is almost impossible to find.

How many others have had this happen?

Obviously a lot if everyone is backordered. They should change it to be surrounded by more CF. I don't recall anybody w/ a BJ4 having this problem. I was thinking of getting a B44, but........

It is a new chassis guys, give it some time, im sure AE will work something out and fix the issue up. If it is a really bad problem get some 2mm or 3mm alluminum sheet and cut a small brace to go around the bulkhead and secure it through the ball stud holes with the ball studs. This will stiffen things up and also make it more break resistant.

Does the B44 come with the chunky ball cups? If so change to smaller ones better to break a few cents worth of ball cup than a chassis part.

Yeah, this is a well-known problem. A couple of the AE sponsored guys at my track have broken several of these. So AE is well aware of the problem. According to one of the drivers, AE is doing some re-design in that area and we should see a new parts soon...

How many of you who have broken the top plate have after market (RPM) ball cups on the car?? So far the only ones I've seen break have all had RPM ball cups. FYI, I made a brace by cutting up an old Mugen MBX5 rear shock tower. I'll post a pic later.

If I recall correctly, when the ZX-5 first came out there was its own set of breakage issues as well. Remember reading about guys snapping chassis in half, etc.

Any new vehicle is going to have issues, ultimately it comes down to how the company handles its for early adopters.

It's true, the ZX-5 had some serious weak spots when it first came out...regardless, I drive Kyoshos. I have seen the B44 at my track perform extremely well under harsh conditions. All cars break, sometimes you don't understand why, sometimes it's obvious. There is one guy at our track that seems to be having trouble with the rear top plate. Everyone else seems to be fine. Strange indeed.

Agreed. All vehicles have had teething problems when they first came out. And again, its how the company deals with it that really matters. If they try the slight of hand trick, change the parts but don't do anything for the early adopters, thats just plain bad. Had this happen with a known company on one of there touring cars back in the day, they claimed there was no problem, but not less than 2 weeks later a new design on that part was shown that had more beef to it. No replacement part shipped, sold the vehicle, and never bought another thing from them.
