more voltage will give you more power, you also have to make sure the packs will handle the amp draw. not sure what motor and esc you are using. for 5s I would try a neu 1515 2.5d (1700kv).

5s or 6s will give you more power & speed the 5000 or 6000 mah is how much capacity the battery has. You can get a 5s pack in either 5000 or 6000 mah. You can also get 6s 5000 or 6000 mah packs. Buy with voltages that high getting a quality ESC that can handle 5s or 6s will set you back close to $300.00 or more.

Lipos are not hard to figure out and they are well worth the money. I would suggest trying one out. If your starting from scratch it could be pricy because of purchasing a lipo charger. Like hippie said the mah is the battery capacity and the number of volts reprensents the cells is 7.4= 2 cells and 11.1 volt is the 3 cell. Dont overcharge a lipo and don't let the voltage drop below i think 3 volts per cell. Most of the esc have lipo cutoffs on them now to prevent the latter. They also require to be balanced so the cells have the same amount of juice in them. This can be done with a lipo balancer bought and most places that carry the charger. I can race 30 min mains with an 7.4 v 8000 mah pack on a xxxt with a brushless system.

In a brushless truggy I would recommend running 2 2s lipos. That is what I run in my brushless truggy and I get much better power and runtime than with 2 matched 4200 packs. The lipos that I bought are $55 each and are sold on ebay, I know people will say they are no good but I have been running them for a while with no problems. And the awesome thing is that they are even cheaper than 2 good nimh packs!

What ESC, and motor are you running? You can't just plug 5S or 6S into anything!

Assuming you have an ESC rated to 6S and a motor with low enough KV to not over rev, have you considered if the rest of your drive train will handle the power?

Max amps has a great battery that is 7.4v and 6000mah for $109. I can get a 45 minute practice out of one charge in my T4 with 7.5 brushless battery. I bought the charger for $75, which was the same price for my stick pack charger. The 4200mah Stick packs would only last 17 to 20 minutes.

The lipo is so well worth the money. You will see an immediate increase in power, for a longer duration of time, including a longer run time.

I switched to lipo about 3 months ago and I just cant understand why in the world I waited so long.

You wont regret you purchase.

I second this motion...... well worth the money. I have 3 but have used just one without charging for a whole race night. 3 quals and a Main with a few laps of practice before each race.

I use the duratrax ice charger to charge my lipos, it will charge up to a 4 cell lipo I think. And I agree, lipo packs are definitely worth it. After I started using lipos in my truggy the power almost doubled and I am killing the nitros!

I use a Bantom B6 charger, but I would rather have the SuperBrain 989 or this http://www.maxamps.com/EOS0610i.htm
If you are talking 2S (or 7.4V) lipo's sure. Don't know about 3S (11.1v) or more though...

I would also recommend the hyperion 610i. It will chage up to 6s at up to 10amps. It also has a built in balancer. The mrc 989 is good for its price since it comes with a power supply but you would still need to purchase a separate balancer.

I use the super brain mrc 989 and have had no problems with it. I got it because it comes with a power supply and I have a blinky balancer.
