Sounds like you are missing a tooth off of you ring gear. It is not uncommon I have had it happen on my TC3. Check your gears for missing teeth and make sure they are shimmed right after you replace them.

I am sure it is the ring or pinion chuncked a tooth. I bet if you open the trans case you will find a munched tooth or two. It happened to me. I just replaced it and went back at it.

I had the same thing happen with the ring and pinion. I heard it for a little bit only when that car slowed down really fast or when I first accelerated really hard, sure enough it stripped a couple of teeth off the gear. I had it shimmed just like the manual said.

I BAWT A SWEET REPLACEMENT GEAR ON EBAY FOR MINE....ITS ALUMINUM AND IT LOOKS AWESOEM.....ITS BLUE....ALSO GET SOME ALUMINUM ARMS FOR THE CAR THE 1S ITS COMES WITH ARE WEAK....TAKE IT TO THE PLACE YOU BOUGHT IT AND TELL THEM TO FIX IT FOR YOU FOR FREE SINCE THEY SOLD IT TO YOU AND THEY SHOULD STAND BEHIND THERE PRODUKT.

Just kidding, buy a new front diff gear and replace the broken one. Next time make sure not to over tighten the slipper clutch.

Usually stripped gears are a result of poor diff shiming. Make sure the diff is shimmed closer to the pinion gear then away. Also make sure there is very little side to side diff play in the tranny case. All shaft driven cars have this issue.

the gears will eventually strip if you have a big hit and hold the power on.

my gears in mj BJWE have been going strong for ages. but i always have a large stock of gears just in case.

It will also happen if the car is cold from the trip to the track. I had a bj4 strip a bunch of teeth when they were cold and brittle. The car rode in the back of my pickup that day.
