I owned the oringinal Superbrain 979 four years ago to charge li-pos that I quickly replaced with the Astro Flight 109. I have seen the newer 989 that the one racer has at the track and I like it.

The 989 is solid. I have a friend that uses it to charge his Orion LiPo, 5cell nimh RX packs, 8cell Tx packs and his lead acid starter box battery. Charging LiPo is far less pecomplicated than peak sensing (nimh/nicd). Others at my track use the 977 with zero problems. The Integy 16x is also decent and inexpensive.

This is no joke. When they originally released their 969 charger, they listed it as lipo compatible. It was not.

They did NOT do a good job of making this known to the people that bought and was using this. Even when directly questioned, they were very elusive about the facts.

The fact was, the charger was NOT lipo compatible and was dangerous to use it for lipo. Period. Do a search...you'll find plenty of people on different boards with similar experiences.

I personally have had extremely poor customer service with MRC. I have a good friend that has had very poor luck with a few of their chargers...as well as their customer service.

No MRC love here.
