stuck pinion?
the pinion gear on my motor is stuck. now i cant get my motor off of my trruck either because of it. how did this happen and how do i get it off?

Stuck pinion
Drill the set screw out.The gear should pull off.You will ruin the pioion but have your motor out of the truck.
the screw is off. i have the grub screw all the way out. the pinion itself is stuck. not the screw
Take a flat blade screwdriver and pry it off . Had to do that a few times years ago .
ive been prying for about 10 minutes now. it hasnt worked. thats why i posted on here
actually i just bent my screwdriver. if that gives you an idea of how stuck it is... what the hell made this happen? will drilling the grub hole out make it easier? you know make it bigger?
did you put thread lock "red" in there or something? jeeze....if push come to shove, a "pinion puller" is probably your last bet before you have to toss the motor....if you can't get a pinion off with a "pinion puller" then you're sol.
pinion puller will work, but the ghetto way will work as well. if the pinion will be screwed, but get a well mounted vice, slam it down on the pinion, get an awl, or some type of pointed metal object that is small than the motor shaft. Use a hammer to tap the motor out of the pinion. most likely their is a bur, or defect on the shaft that caused it, so the motor shaft might be messed up, give it a nice rub down with med-fine grit sand paper

i dont have a "pinion puller" but i do have something i use for flywheels. i will try it. thanks. and if that doesnt work i will do the vice cause i got that too. its great being a mechanic. you got all the tools in your garage. haha
Before you try that, I recommend taking a soldering iron and press it against the pinion for about a minute. (It shouldn't melt...). It should make the pinion expand just a tad enough for your effort to pay off. It happened to me once.
the ones before were good advice. and that might just be better. thanks ill try it. will it hurt the motor though? having it heat up so much?
cut the pinion with a dremmel. once you have a cut if it does not fall off stick a screwdriver in the cut and pry.
i actually ended up doing a combo of two of yalls tips. i heated it with my soldering iron and then used a "pinion puller"(aka drop forger. aka flywheel puller) and it came off smooth and easy. thanks guys

Glad to be of help! ^_^
